If past president Donald Trump wins re-election in November, Nicolle Wallace, a host of MSNBC, said on” Deadline” on Monday that the press’s flexibility may be terminated.
Wallace said,” The quarterly White House Correspondents ‘ Dining is one of the signs, one of the symptoms of a healthy, functioning democracy”.
She continued,” It’s a coming together and, at its core, the president doing everything right celebrates and honors the free press. Behind the humour, nevertheless, there was something darker, a lighter undertone, if you will, and a place that the leader had to create. And it was more deeply significant. Because at this very moment in the future, based on what happens in November, we ca n’t be certain whether there will be a White House correspondents ‘ dinner, a free press, or even a White House press corps. Best? You do n’t have to have one. Could be another example of how Trump “blew up.”
Wallace added,” Depending what happens in November, seven weeks from right now, this time next time, I might not be sitting around. White House journalists ‘ meal or free press events might not be possible. The real threat looms even more severe than the current one, even though our democracy wo n’t exactly crumble without it. A member who outwardly dislikes the rule of law, the free press, and all of our rights.
