On Wednesday, two Democrats and two Democrats sat down in the Arizona Senate to overturn the country’s 1864, nearly full, abortion ban.
Republican State Sens. Shawnna Bolick and T. J. Shope joined Liberals to enhance the reform, which passed 16 to 14, CNN reported. The voting occurs one week after three Democrats and all 29 Liberals in the state House cast ballots to support the reform.
The governor of Arizona will now have the act on his table. Katie Hobbs ( D), who said , on Wednesday that she is going to “quickly” mark the reform into law.

The position must abide by the 1864 law, which forbids all pregnancies, excluding those that save the mother’s life, and places an extradition word of two to five years in prison for abortionists, according to a traditional selection made on April 9.
Justices heard claims in the case,  , Planned Parenthood of Arizona v. Mayes/Hazelrigg, in December and were asked to consider if Arizona’s 15- year pregnancy control, signed into law in March 2022, overrides the older rules.  , While the jury did not rule on the validity of the 1864 laws, the judge issued a four- to- two , selection, with one recusal, finding that the 1864 law was “enforceable” over the newer 15- week limit.
Repealing the 1864 limitation makes way for the country’s 15- year limit to be state law.
Although this reform is crucial for saving women’s lives, Hobbs said in a statement that it is just the start of our campaign to protect Arizona’s sexual healthcare.
Susan B. Anthony ( SBA ) Pro- Life America, a leader in pro-life organization, called on Arizona Republicans to defend the state’s 15-week limit and issued a statement deploring the passing of the 1864 law.
SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser expressed her sadness over the loss of the kids who would have been protected and the parents who would have received life-affirming assistance for their alternative needs under Arizona’s strongest pro-life law, in part:
Between now and November, the deep Left and pro- abortion forces will invest tens of millions of dollars to wet the waters, fearmonger, and sow confusion to enhance an extraordinary abortion agenda. Their purpose is to remove Arizona’s 15-week abortion law with a constitutional amendment that would grant unrestricted, agonizing late-term pregnancies in the fifth, sixth, and seventh months of pregnancy and beyond. Arizona’s 15-week shelter with exclusions and the extraordinary no-limits abortion amendment must be supported by Kari Lake and all other GOP candidates and elected representatives.
However, after the repeal is enacted,” Democrats , plan to argue the 15- week limit and its lack of exceptions for rape or incest is also unpopular”, CNN reported, noting that Democrats even plan to target prone Republicans at the state legislature level.
We are focused on flipping the two seats in each chamber that will give Democrats the upper chambers in Arizona’s legislature, according to Heather Williams, the president of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, in a statement as Republicans regroup to defend their 15-week ban and work to undermine the upcoming abortion ballot measure in Arizona.

The 1864 law, according to Democrat Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, wo n’t be enforceable until at least June 27 due to other ongoing litigation, according to Mayes. However, the repeal would not go into effect until 90 days after the Arizona legislature adjourns, leaving the state’s abortion landscape , in a temporary limbo.
Mayes requested on Tuesday that the Arizona Supreme Court grant her office an additional 90 days to decide whether to file an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to the report.
A proposed amendment that would establish a constitutional right to abortion in Arizona would ultimately override the 15-week limit and allow for abortion up to 24 weeks and after, with exceptions for the life and health of the mother. Pro-abortion activists in the state are also, moving forward.
Arizona is one of at least a dozen states where pro- abortion activists are  , working , to codify the right to kill the unborn.
