Tim Kennedy, a Democrat and lifelong New York state lawmaker, handily , won , a particular election to signify a heavy- blue Buffalo- area House of Representatives district.
In the state Board of Elections ‘ inadequate election results, Kennedy won around 68 % of the vote. His Democratic rival, Gary Dickson, picked up about 32 % of the vote, the findings showed.
” Oh baby”! Kennedy, 47,  , told supporters , as he basked in his win Tuesday evening. ” Thank you, Western New York— what a spectacular success”.
The victory of Kennedy gives Democrats a second-place lead in New York’s 26th Congressional District. The city’s former Democratic senator,  , Brian Higgins,  , resigned in , February , and moved on to a , career leading a Buffalo drama.
The 26th District , runs northeast from Buffalo up to Niagara Falls.
Kennedy’s altitude continues the problems of House Speaker Mike Johnson, the , Louisiana Republican , who is presiding over a shattered GOP caucus in a virtually cut room.
Kennedy claimed that his triumph “one move closer to preserving politics” and “one vote close to a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.”
It was not instantly clear when Kennedy, who joined the state Senate in 2011 and is known as a powerful fund- raising, may been sworn into Congress.
As a , state senator,  , he was intensely focused on travel. His , legislative battle platform , centered on aid for sexual freedom and gun control.
Gov. Kathy Hochul, a modest Democrat from Buffalo who previously served in the House, celebrated Kennedy’s success.
” Thanks, Congressman- Elect Tim Kennedy”! the chancellor said in a speech on , social media Wednesday night. Tim is a sincere public servant who will fight for the demands of Northern New Yorkers. NY- 26 will always be house, and I’m glad to have solid Democratic leadership in Congress”.
