A double spot blast on Thursday in Balochistan, located in the west of Pakistan, left one person dead and at least 18 others injured, according to a police officer.
The first minefield reportedly exploded as a vehicle was passing through a valley in Baluchistan province’s coal-rich Duki district, according to district police officer Asif Haleem. The second blast occurred as counter-terrorism officials and citizens were examining the site of the first fire.
No one or entity took immediate action to account for the blast. In the southwest of the country, separatist parties have recently targeted infrastructure and security forces.
First, their purpose was to secure a larger portion of municipal resources, but they gradually began an insurrection seeking independence from the central government.
An Islamabad-based believe tank previously reported that 70 people died as a result of violent assaults in the country in April, the majority of which took place in the province of northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Additionally, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the country experienced 323 violent attacks in the first four months of the year, which resulted in 324 fatalities.
