According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office from the Western District of Texas, a federal judge recently found guilty a U.S. Customs and Border Protection ( CBP ) officer from El Paso on two counts of deprivation of human rights under the color of law and one count of falsifying a document in a federal investigation.
Between October 2019 and June 2022, Miguel Angel Delgado Jr., 40, was on work at the Bridge of Americas Port of Entry, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The U. S. Attorney’s Office says as a result of Delgado’s “unlawful usage of pressure”, victims suffered physical harm.
Delgado even submitted a CBP Incident Log Report after one of the situations, where he “falsely reported the occurrence”, according to the U. S. Attorney’s Office.
Delgado faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each usage of power event and a maximum sentence of 20 years for falsifying a report.
The event was investigated by the CBP Office of Professional Responsibility and the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General.
