A Portland, Oregon man is happy that his family” may have a good life” after he won this week’s large$ 1.3 billion Lottery prize as he undergoes cancer treatment.
Cheng” Charlie” Saephan was born in Laos and immigrated to the United States in 1994, according to People. The father of two spent$ 200 on lottery tickets with his wife and friend and prayed to win each night after battling cancer for eight years.
The Oregon Lottery made the announcement on April 8 that a success had been chosen from a Portland Plaid Pantry pleasure store.  ,
Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells at the time described this as an exceptional jackpot win.
Saephan, 46, and his family, Duanpen, 37, were named the winners of the country’s largest prize in history on Monday— and they’ll become splitting the cash with their friend, 55- year- ancient Laiza Chao, who chipped in$ 100 for the tickets.
” Second, I want to bless God for giving me this wonderful prize”, Saephan said during a news event, per the Oregonian.
After taxes, the pair and friend chose to get their money in cash rather than in money. This leaves them with a staggering$ 422 million. The group has also decided to split it properly, with 50 % going to the Saephans and 50 % to Chao.  ,
” I’m glad for my home. They will have a great existence”, Saephan said. ” But to myself, I’m in the middle of battling cancers, so I’m thinking,’ How am I going to have time to devote all this cash?'”
He said,” I am grateful for the lottery and how I have been blessed,” after asking aloud what he would spend the money on.
” I am able to provide for my family and my health … My life has been changed. The success continued,” I can now bless my home and choose a respectable doctor for myself.”
He says he’s going to get his family a “dream home” as effectively.
Saephan has played the jackpot frequently and has even recorded his winning numbers over and stuffed them under his pillow before going to sleep every night.  ,
Saephan recalled the prayer he recited before the winning numbers were released,” I need some help… I do n’t want to die yet unless I have done something for my family first.”
He also recalled the joyful message he made to Chao.  ,” I call her and she’s driving on the way to labor, and I told her,’ What are you doing then?’ and she said,’ I’m driving on the way to work,’ and I told her,’ You do n’t have to go work now”.
Saephan, who has lived in Portland since moving to the United States for 30 years, claimed the Quick Pick solution was used to generate the winning numbers.
” God picked for me”, he added.
Director Wells told the Oregonian,” I want to express my profound thanks to the Saephans and Ms. Chao on this traditional win. The reward is a huge win for the state, not only for the three of them and their communities, but it also changes everything.
The Plaid Pantry area is set to receive a$ 100, 000 reward for selling the solution, which is the fourth- largest prize in record, according to Powerball.
