Google reportedly relocated jobs to India and Mexico while removing hundreds of employees from its” Core” division.

According to CNBC, tech tycoon Google has significantly changed its workforce, having had a significant impact on its” Core” groups, which are responsible for laying the technical base for the company’s flagship products and ensuring online security. The reform, announced through internal connections, has resulted in the dismissal of at least 200 employees, with a large part coming from executive roles at the bank’s Sunnyvale, California offices.

The restructuring is a part of Google’s wider plan to expand its reach internationally and work with local, influential developers and colleagues. In consequence, many of the Core team ‘ jobs may be replaced by equivalent roles in India and Mexico, where labor charges are lower than in the United States.

Asim Husain, Vice President of Google Developer Ecosystem, addressed the alterations in an message to his crew, expressing his concern and concern over the doubt that these disclosures might bring. He emphasized that the reform is in line with the company’s wider objectives, which include expanding strategically while maintaining its international reputation.

The Core system plays a vital role in Google’s operations, encompassing important technical units such as information technology, Python designer teams, technical equipment, protection foundations, app platforms, key developers, and various architectural roles. Google’s attempts to optimize its creator tools and use more AI into its products are reflected in the layoffs and later transfer of roles.

Google’s annual developer meeting, Google I/O, is set for May 14 as a result of the reform. The company’s annual event serves as a platform for the business to debut novel developer materials and tools created in the previous year. Hussain emphasized the importance of the Core team in navigating this crucial change as the latest advances in conceptual AI, including Google’s Gemini design, are changing the nature of application development.

Google’s decision to expand its workforce in India and Mexico aligns with the company’s broader strategy of building teams closer to users in key markets, as outlined by management, during an all- hands meeting in March. The move comes in response to a decline in the online advertising market, which included the announcement to lay off approximately 12, 000 employees, or 6 % of its workforce, early last year.

Google reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2024, with a 15 % increase in revenue compared to the prior year, despite the ongoing restructuring efforts. The company also declared its first-ever dividend and a$ 70 billion share buyback program, giving investors confidence in its prospects for growth in the future.
