
After evicting activists encamped at City College, a high-ranking NYPD official happily hoisted an American flag and a school employee pulled over and tossed a Palestinian symbol, according to videos posted by the ministry.
Kaz Daughtry, the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner for Operations, posted the video first Wednesday.
The Israeli flag is ripe in the video, which a person jumps up and delivers it to a college worker who tosses it to the floor. Daughtry and Tarik Sheppard, the NYPD’s assistant director for common knowledge, then join in hooking an American emblem to the mast in its place.
As credentialed multimedia were prevented from entering the camp, the incident appears to have been captured by an NYPD artist.
Daughtry and Sheppard teeth and pose for the camera next to the flag shaft at the end of the picture.
Daughtry tweeted alongside the picture,” An extraordinary scene and happy time as we helped @CityCollegeNY restore order on college, culminating in raising Old Glory once more on their college flagpole.”
Flag film was criticized by critics as being offensive and going too far in terms of politicizing the NYPD.
” NYPD sees itself as a winning army ( not as guards of free speech/protest as they frequently falsely claim ),” wrote Joo Hyun- Kang, chairman of Communities United for Police Reform. ” Replacing a flag is n’t about safety, it’s propaganda. And why in the world does police do this?
The governor, who claimed his brother “died defending the state,” responded to the condemnation.
” You do n’t take over our buildings and put another flag up”, Adams said. ” It’s vile that schools will let another country’s flag to travel in our country. But blame me for being glad to be an National”.
Sheppard claimed that he thought the Arab flag had been taken down in the future.
” If there is a flag that is up.. that the school did n’t put up, would n’t the school normally … say it does n’t belong here and take it down and put it in the trash? Would n’t they normally do that”? Sheppard said.
Israeli colors have been raised in recent days during demonstrations that have taken place at locations like City College, Columbia University, NYU, and other schools.
On Tuesday, demonstrators at City College appear to have taken down the British flag.
Police officers who are on duty and dressed in standard are prohibited from publicly expressing their opinions and opinions regarding the merits of any public plan issue. Additionally, the police administrative guide forbids police from displaying prejudice on the grounds of religion, sex, or political orientation.
After police cleared the Columbia camp on Tuesday evening, they turned to City College and detained the building that, making 173 arrests for intruding at the same time.
The video coincides with a new trend of police officers violently threatening reviewers and promoting their own opinions on social media.
Daughtry and Chief of Patrol John Chell criticized Harry Siegel of the New York Daily News for his column on train murder in March. Chell criticized Council Member Tiffany Caban in earlier April for supporting critic and lawyer Olayemi Olurin, who had previously criticized the governor on a television program.
” If you want change, voting the change you seek”, Chell wrote.
Government officials are prohibited from using their formal social media accounts to campaign or engage in political action.
” Chief Chell concluded by urging people to vote and used his established bill to consistently praise the president, who is a candidate for office. That is a NYPD official’s do that is specifically prohibited,” Caban told the Daily News.
