
Carnival organizers are reportedly planning to rally and strike in a move that could derail the Cannes Film Festival’s upcoming red carpet appearances and the French premieres of some highly anticipated films.
According to a Deadline statement, 200 European film festival workers, including Cannes employees and those from different festivals all over France, are organizing rallies at this year’s Cannes event. Because there are labor unions in every possible career, no matter how topic, these demonstrations are being organized by a coalition that represents event employees, according to Sous Les Écrans La Dèche: Collectif Des Précaires Des Festivals De Cinéma.
Protestors intend to demonstrate on the Croisette, the main thoroughfare of the town, throughout the 12 moment Cannes Film Festival, which will begin on May 14 according to unknown sources. They will also create their presence known at side events like the Managers ‘ Fortnight’s ceremony and La Semaine de la Critique’s opening ceremony.
Workers claim to be upset about their payment because they are paid a living wage, especially given how much time they must put in. They are also unhappy that they do n’t qualify for France ‘s , unemployment insurance program for entertainment workers and technicians.
This week’s Cannes does have the world debut of Furiosa, the prelude to Mad Max: Fury Road. The event will also sponsor the highly anticipated airs of Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and Kevin Costner’s amazing western , Horizon: An American Story.
