At a charity in Washington, D.C., the White House scrambled to discuss remarks that President Joe Biden made about Japan’s attitude toward refugees on Wednesday nights.

Biden made the remarks shortly after meeting with Fumio Kishida, the prime minister of Japan, at the White House for a position attend. Wednesday’s promotion event was generally attended by Eastern American donors.

The leader lumped Japan and India, two powerful U.S. allies with Russia and China, and claimed that all four were racist and that their opposition to approaching immigrants had a negative impact on their economic situation, according to the media share traveling with Biden.

While accompanying the leader to North Carolina on Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that Biden was trying to make those nations more welcoming than the United States ‘ personal understanding of immigrants.

” The broader circumstance that he was trying to make”, Jean- Pierre told writers,” when it comes to who we are as a society, we are a society of refugees. That is in our DNA”.

” Clearly, we have a solid relationship with India, with Japan — and the leader, if you just look at the next three years, has truly focused on those political relationships”, she continued, ignoring concerns about whether Biden’s remarks would severely impact relations with Japan and India.

Despite this, Jean-Pierre was still being pressed by reporters about why Biden purposefully used such a “pejorative and negative word” to describe an ally.

Before reporters interrupted her repeated defense, Jean- Pierre began to repeat,” I think the president was very clear.”

” He was n’t very clear”, one reporter stated. ” That’s why we’re asking you”.

” Here’s what I’m saying”, Jean- Pierre soldiered on. We must keep in mind that we are a nation of immigrants. I’m letting him know what he was referring to in those comments. We are a country of immigrants, it makes us stronger”.
