Bowman: ‘So-Called Pro-Israel Students’ Told Me Antisemitism at Columbia ‘Overblown’

On Thursday’s spread of MSNBC’s” Alex Wagner Tonight”, Rep. Jamaal Bowman ( D- NY ) said that, according to” so- called pro- Israel learners” at Columbia that he met with when he visited school next year, the hatred they have faced on school “has been little, it has been overblown by the media. We have been uncomfortable, but we do n’t feel unsafe. This is what they told me, exactly. He even stated that Columbia is” a place for important thinking, important speech, important conversation that makes us uncomfortable, but moves us forth”.

Marshall stated,” I even met with therefore- called pro- Israel students when I was there just to learn about the antisemitism that they have experienced, and they told me, it has been little, it has been overblown by the media. We have been uncomfortable, but we do n’t feel unsafe. This is what they told me. And my aim, as a previous tutor, as a father of three, is to convince us all that Columbia is an institution of higher learning. It’s a place for important thinking, important speech, important conversation that makes us uncomfortable, but moves us forward. Because we are over-militarizing our school campuses, our children are not being able to do it. And, to me, that’s totally unacceptable”.
