France: France estimates that 150, 000 Russian troops have been killed during Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, foreign secretary Stephane Sejourne said in an interview published on Friday.
Speaking to Soviet independent news Novaya Gazeta Europe, Sejourne said Paris estimated total Russian deaths, including wounded, at 500, 000 in the conflict, now in its second season.
” Europe and its partners will be united and determined, for as long as required. Russia’s military failing is now visible. We estimate Russian military loss at 500, 000, including 150, 000 fatalities”, he said.
” All of this for what”? he asked. ” This can be summed up in two words: for nothing”, he said.
Russia has not disclosed information on its deaths.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, reported in February that 180, 000 Soviet soldiers had died in the conflict.
According to Britain, in Ukraine, about 450 000 Russians have died or been injured.
The BBC reported in April that more than 50, 000 Soviet military officers have died, citing its own writers, independent media group Mediazona and individuals.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, made the announcement of a” special military activity” at sunrise on February 24, 2022, which has since turned into a terrible retention conflict, isolating Russia from the West.
Some martial experts think that Russia might be about to launch a significant new offensive in Ukraine.
Sejourne reiterated that the cash could be used to pay for Ukraine’s defense against the war, but did not provide details when referring to the froze Russian assets in the European Union.
