The Department of Justice announced the indictment of U. S. Representative Henry Cuellar ( D- TX ) and his wife, Imelda, on charges of accepting money. Cuellar, the member for Texas 28th , Congressional District, has been in business since 2005. More than two years after Federal Bureau of Investigation officials conducted a research warrant on Cuellar’s Laredo apartment, the charges are in progress.
According to DOJ authorities, the senator and his wife are accused of accepting bribes worth close to$ 600,000 from an Azerbaijani power company. In Houston, Cuellar and his family made an appearance before Magistrate Judge Dena Palermo.
According to the prosecution, the pair allegedly accepted the bribes from a Mexican bank and an energy company controlled by the Azerbaijani authorities. The money was washed using phony discussing agreements. The energy company was then able to influence the congressman’s decision to change the United States ‘ foreign policy and to impose force on U.S. Executive Branch authorities to profit from the company’s interest, according to the prosecution.
In January 2022, Cuellar’s residence on Estate Drive in Laredo was raided by national government. Cuellar’s office confirmed that the search warrant was carried out at the location and stated that” Congressman Cuellar will fully engage in any analysis,” when Breitbart Texas reached out to Cuellar’s office at the time of the raid. Federal authorities later reported that Cuellar’s lawyer Joshua Berman issued a statement indicating the senator was n’t the subject of the investigation in response to an Associated Press reports report. According to law enforcement, Cuellar’s home was raided in 2022 in connection with an continuing federal investigation into alleged indiscretions committed by American traders in the nation.

This November, the senator will attempt to win re-election. In November, Cuellar may experience the success of the Republican Primary discharge election where Jay Furman and Lazaro Garza, Jr. are vying for the election
The Cuellars face the following fees, according to the Court:
Two counts of conspiracy to defraud a national national and two counts of having a public official work as a foreign official’s agent, each of which are five years in prison, two counts of corruption of a federal official, each of which are 15 years in prison. Also, two counts of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, two years in prison for each count, two counts of violating the interdiction of public officials acting as unusual leaders ‘ agents, two years in prison for each count, one count of conspiracy
