Cindy McCain, the executive producer of the World Food Programme and family of the late Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, speaks at the Tempe Center for the Arts, Sept. 28, 2023, in, Tempe, Ariz.
” Whenever you have issues like this, and feelings trend high, and items happen in a war, hunger happens. And so, what I can explain to you is]that ] there is complete- blown hunger in the northeast, and it’s moving its means south”, McCain told Welker during the meeting, which is set to air in its entirety Sunday.
McCain expressed intense problem amid the continuing humanitarian crises, asking for a “cease- fire” for “unfettered access” to provide food into Gaza properly.
Welker followed up with McCain in the interview, asking,” ]what ] you’re saying]is ] there’s full- blown famine in northern Gaza”, and the World Food Programme director responded, saying,” Yes, I am”.
As the conflict between Israel and Hamas drags on, the UN food company issued a warning in March that drought was “imminent.”
Following a report from the World Food Programme ( WFP), McCain previously stated that “people in Gaza are starving to death right now.” It is enthralling how quickly this man-made hunger and malnutrition issue has spread to Gaza.
