EL PASO, Texas — Despite a marked decline in recent months in migrant bridges into Texas, workers who have been released by the Biden presidency can still be found lying and gathering in downtown El Paso.
The migrants claim to spend the night in a chapel shelter in the city center and day out in the city’s industrial area. As local visitors pass by, some refugees panhandle or look for other odd jobs to make money, while others wander in alleyways and streets corners.
Breitbart Texas spoke to Julieta, a migrant from Nicaragua, and her home. Since illegally entering the United States, Julieta claims she and her home have spent eighteen days on the city’s streets. Julieta was accompanied by her father, family, and three little children. Her father sat in the color while the kids played and discussed how Houston might finally come to be.

” I’ll work when I get that if I can get a job”, Julieta’s father says. According to Julieta, they hope to speak with some of their friends and family members in Houston. Julieta admitted to Border Patrol prison that her son was poor. He was allegedly identified with chickenpox, but according to her, God saved him before the family was let go onto El Paso streets for almost three weeks.
Julieta and her relatives described the challenging and lengthy journey from Nicaragua, but their young children played with a cheap vehicle on the road. The home appears to be stuck in purgatory, just like many other immigrant families who are circling the city center. Many migrants told Breitbart Texas they would wait to see what had happened despite not having enough money to leave the borders area. According to Julia, the house has not so far provided financial assistance for the mother’s journey to Houston.

On Friday, more than 50 workers were visible in the downtown area near the church, a significant decrease from the previous month, when hundreds of people had fled to seek asylum. When Breitbart Texas visited the area exactly a year ago, it discovered that there were far more migrants living in paper and tarp shelters than in actual reality. Since January, fewer workers have crossed the border due to a crackdown by the Latino state.
Later in December, the Biden administration and Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, chairman of Mexico, came to an agreement to stop illegal immigration. Although the agreement’s details have been made public, it is clear that Mexico’s National Institute of Migration and the Mexican National Guard have reduced the number of migrants arriving in northern Mexico by using public transportation and the renowned” Bestia” train collection.

Immigrant crossings into the El Paso Border Patrol Sector decreased by nearly 30 % during the month of April, according to a cause from Customs and Border Protection. The cause, who was not authorized to speak to the media, said 30, 400 workers were apprehended by the Border Patrol within the industry in April 2024 compared to almost 43, 000 in April 2023.
The source claims that this fiscal year’s decrease in crossings is more important than previous year’s. Since October, 181, 000 workers have crossed into the El Paso Sector compared to 308, 200 during the same moment window last month, a lessening of 41 percent.
The Border Patrol in the area also faces problems despite the slowdown in migrant bridges. ” We are arresting nearly 900 passing into the market each day, that may be less than the 1200 we saw last year, but it is still a crisis”, the cause emphasized.
