A idealistic blueprint for a altered Gaza, titled” Gaza 2035,” was released on Friday by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli government envisions a potential for Gaza as a vibrant center of trade and technology under a de-radicalized, de-focused Arab leadership that is more focused on economic growth than on terrorism and love, according to a PowerPoint presentation that the prime minister’s office purportedly released and accessible on the Ynet news site in Hebrew.
The” Gaza 2035″ strategy aims to capitalise on Gaza’s historical significance as a crossroads between Cairo and Baghdad, on the one hand, and the north-south road between Europe and Yemen, on the other.
It envisions a three- phase process of rebuilding: second, 12 months of charitable aid, next, a 5- 10 year process of reconstruction supervised by Muslim states, and next, Israeli self- rule and participation in the Abraham Accords.
The , Jerusalem Post elaborates:
Reconstructing new cities from scratch, complete with modern architecture and planning, will be a part of the rebuilding effort.
…
The plan also calls for the creation of a massive free trade zone covering Sderot- Gaza- El Arish, which would allow Israel, Gaza, and Egypt to take advantage of the location, co- operatively.
The newly discovered gas fields north of Gaza would support the expanding industry by combining the new infrastructure investments and regional integration.
The plan does not explicitly call for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, but instead envisions normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia and eventual union between the West Bank and Gaza under Palestinian control.
In exchange for solar energy from enormous solar fields being constructed in the desert, Israel also draws on recently signed agreements between Israel and nearby Arab nations that Israel intends to offer desalination technology on the Mediterranean.
Will the plan gain any support, it is still up for grabs. Such forward-looking plans have previously been rejected by Palestinians.
The Netanyahu government seems to want to promote a peaceful and prosperous postwar coexistence in light of the plan’s timing.
