The American envoy who quit over President Joe Biden’s handling of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas made a statement in which she felt the country was “on the wrong side of history.”
Hala Rharrit, the second U. S. minister to resign over the Biden administration’s plan regarding the Israel and Hamas battle, had spent 18 times working at the State Department, with no “intention of resigning”
Rharrit told CNN,” I had full intentions to continue on in my job until I reached top rates.” ” I never had the purpose of resigning”.
Rharrit had worked for the State Department in Arabic for a month and a half before resigning.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched an attack on Israel by land, water, and weather, which left 1, 200 people dying and more than 200 people dying.
The strike saw around 3, 000 , Hamas terrorists invade Israel, killing music- goers at a music event while others hunted down Israeli men, women, and children, leaving many subjected to torture, murder, and also death.
Israel launched a self-defense activity in Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas.
Rharrit shared that after the invasion, she and some of her acquaintances were left “horrified” and wondering what had “happen next”.
” Everyone was kind of bracing themselves,’ Oh, my god, what’s going to happen following?'” Rharitt said, adding that while they knew Israel may answer strongly, they did not predict” the result may be 34, 000 killed” and the citizens of Gaza dealing with “famine problems”.
The residents of northern Gaza are reportedly experiencing famine as the Israeli-Hamas conflict continues.
Biden has stated that his support for Israel is “ironclad” in the aftermath of Hamas’s attack.
” I’m fundamentally concerned that we’re on the wrong side of history and we are hurting our interests”, Rharrit explained.
After Josh Paul, the former director of the State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, resigned in October over the Biden administration’s decision to provide weapons to Israel, Rharrit’s resignation in April came to an end.
