El Paso, Texas ( Border Report )- The federal government has charged three people and a woman with reportedly selling roughly one kilogram of fentanyl powder to an undercover agent for almost 40 000 dollars.
According to the indictment filed on Friday in the United States District Court for the District of Southern California, Ruben Isaac Romo, his brother Ruben Romo Cervantes, his daughter Kimberly Romo Cervantes, and Arturo Eduardo Villegas allegedly gave medicines to a Homeland Security Investigations broker acting as a customer.
In San Diego, between October and November, the reported transactions occurred over a five-week time.
Through an investigation, the agent called the kingpin to negotiate for the first fentanyl pills to be purchased. He was instructed to call a designated place and visit a Mexican phone number. Romo, his son and daughter showed up in a bright Honda Civic, exchanged 20, 000 tablets for$ 8, 000 dollars and drove back to Mexico, a national complaint alleges.
The broker then requested that Romo, his brother, and a later named Villegas order one gram of fentanyl powder, which the agent claimed was delivered at a warehouse. According to documents, the Romos once more returned to Mexico after receiving pay. The agent testified that his “kilo” ( 2.2 pounds ) weighed only 860 grams ( 1.9 pounds ).  ,
Another 20 000 fentanyl pills were involved in the most recent exchange, which occurred in November. According to the problem, Romo and his child were present at a meeting that day outside a cellphone store in San Diego.
The Romos were arrested April 23 in San Diego. One moment after, Villallegas was detained. Court documents do n’t identify the original” source of supply” ( trafficker ) or say whether he is in custody.
On numerous works of fentanyl supply, aiding, and abetting, the four defendants were charged.
