
Istanbul Airport was evacuated on Wednesday, but a FedEx Airlines Boeing cargo plane made an emergency landing, a statement from the Turkish government’s transportation government stated.
The department said in a statement that the Boeing 767 aircraft informed the Istanbul Airport traffic control tower that its getting gear had broken and that it had received instructions from the tower.
Without giving a justification for the loss, the government added that no one was hurt while the airport’s recovery and fire fighting team made necessary preparations on the tarmac prior to landing.
As the front conclusion of the helicopter scrapped along the tarmac before being dipped in fire foam, Reuters video footage showed sparks flying and smoke billowing.
According to the airport operator, IGA, the airport where the goods airplane landed has temporarily been closed off to air traffic, but traffic on the other runways continues without interruption.
Boeing did not respond right away.
In response to mounting pressure from airlines, regulators, and investors, Boeing made the decision to change its control this year as it battled a growing problems following a mid-air panel disaster on a 737 MAX plane in January.
