Despite lack of evidence that would support India’s presence in the killing of India-designated criminal Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the foreign minister of Canada, has stated that Ottawa will continue to support the allegations.
Joly stated to investigators that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are conducting an investigation into the shooting of Nijjar. She stated that Canada may continue to protect its members, CPAC reported.
” Canada’s location has always been clear. Our priority is to defend Canadians, and we support the claims that Indian agents killed a French on American soil. Today, the investigation by the RCMP is being done”, Joly said.
No other national from our authorities did comment further, but I’m telling people to do the same regarding the relationship with India because, in my opinion, diplomacy should always be done in private and Canada will continue to stand by helping us guard Canadians while also safeguarding our country’s sovereignty, according to CPAC.
Her speech comes after American police announced the arrest of three people accused of killing Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Friday. As was speculated in French press, Canadian police have not, however, provided any proof of any connection to India.
Members of the British Columbian Sikh group gathered in a Surrey court on Tuesday to watch three Indian nationals charged with the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s death appear in court on videos, according to Globe and Mail, a news website based in Canada.
As the pair, dressed in magenta jumpsuits, appeared before judge, pro- Khalistani protesters chanted slogans and held placards, outside the Surrey municipal court, blaming India’s state for the shooting.
Judge Delaram Jahani questioned the three offenders, Karan Brar, Karanpreet Singh, and Kamalpreet Singh, in short. Brar and Karanpreet Singh made the decision to show up again on May 21 through their counsel. The jury, however, is yet to choose on a new day for Kamalpreet Singh who has sought legal counsel, the Globe and Mail reported.
The three gentlemen were taken into custody in Edmonton last week on Friday and are charged with first-degree crime and violent conspiracies in connection with the Nijjar firing, which had a significant impact on Canada’s relations with India, in June.
Importantly, after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian officials of killing Nijjar, relations between India and Canada have gotten strained. Nevertheless, India has dismissed the charges as “absurd” and “motivated”.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot and killed as he exited a Surrey Gurdwara in June next year, according to India’s National Investigation Agency in 2020. In a reportedly uncovered videos of his murder in March of this year, armed men allegedly shot him, causing a” contract killing.”
In response to an ongoing investigation into alleged connections between the American government, American police released photos of all three of the suspects in the shooting of India-designated criminal Nijjar next year.
The French police also released photos of the car the suspects allegedly drove in and around the Surrey area in addition to the three accused’s photos.
The three men were detained on May 3 by the Surrey, Alberta, and British Columbia RCMP’s integrated homicide investigation team ( IHIT ), according to a report from the integrated homicide investigation team ( IHIT ) of Surrey, RCMP.
