In post-MeToo Hollywood, intimacy coordinators have become stifled, according to former professional Michael Douglas, who suggested.
After filming erotic thrillers like Fatal Attraction ( 1987 ) and Basic Instinct ( 1992 ), Douglas himself is no stranger to sex scenes. He lamented to the Radio Times that filmmakers have lost artistic freedom due to the presence of intimacy coordinators on set. Nevertheless, he did recognize that some female actors and directors were harassed in the past and that some of them went too far.
” I’m past the age where I’ve got to worry about that. But it’s engaging with all the connection organizers”, he said. There have been some horrifying faux pas and abuse, according to the report, which suggests managers are removing filmmakers ‘ power.
” Sex images are like fight scenes, it’s all choreographed. In my experience, you take responsibility as the man to make certain the person is secure, you talk it through. You say,’ OK, I’m gonna contact you around if that’s all correct’. It’s very sluggish but looks like it’s happening naturally, which is ideally what fine acting looks like”, he added.
Additionally, Douglas added that losing work would be done for players who had a bad reputation for intimate moments.
” I’m sure there were individuals that overstepped their limitations, but when, we seemed to take care of that ourselves. They do have a reputation, which would protect them.
” But I talked to the ladies,” he continued, “because ] I did a few of those sex movies, sexual movies, and we joke about how it would have been if we had an intimacy coordinator working with us.”
