Gov. On Wednesday, Ron DeSantis (R-FL ) made it clear that his administration would not tolerate harassing pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protesters calling the shots on campuses and briefly mocking those who continue to disrupt.
DeSantis went straight to the school, where some students continued to rally, as slogans had been heard in the background. But, that did not stop DeSantis, who continued in his comment despite the far slogans.
As chants could be heard in the background, DeSantis said,” You know, I was n’t here after October 7 on the campus, I’m sure the protestors were all very upset about the fact that Hamas attacked Israeli communities, baked babies in ovens, raped women, and ] assassinated elderly people in very brutal ways.”
” I’m sure they were very upset about that — oh no, they were n’t. That’s right, they did n’t care about that. They were totally great with those murders happening, and they had no problem about that”, he noted, making it clear that the attempt to” sit at the University of Florida” were shut down quickly.

Next year, there was a plot attempt to set up an camp. And I am aware that this has sort of become a frequent occurrence throughout the rest of the nation,” he said. ” Well, we do n’t do that here in the state of Florida, and so, they did have an encampment, and it lasted about a few minutes”.
However, the school released a speech following the arrest of some pro- Hamas, pro- Israel protesters, making it clear that the school is certainly a “daycare”.
” This is not complicated: The University of Florida is certainly a nursery, and we do not treat activists like children — they knew the rules, they broke the rules, and they’ll face the consequences”, UF President Ben Sasse said in a statement.
DeSantis continued, pointing out that, unlike elsewhere in the region, protesters are governing the schools because the state universities in Florida are making sure that purchase is maintained.

” You do not have a proper to seize house. You do n’t have a right to go take over parts of the university. He said,” You do n’t have a right to pursue other students based on their ethnicity, and we’re going to ensure that that’s upheld in the state of Florida,” underscoring the contrast between how Florida universities are handling the agitators and other institutions, like Columbia University in New York.
If you look around the country, you have a bunch of wealthy colleges and universities that have allowed themselves to be overwhelmed with camps, painting, as well as a lot of really dirty hatred. At Columbia, pro- Hamas campaigners stormed structures, took cleaning personnel hostage, and destroyed classic educational rooms. Israeli pupils at UCLA were prohibited by pro-Hamas activists from entering houses on campus. The library at Portland State was taken over and later trashed by vagrants who did n’t even attend the university at the time. And we can hear some of the chants from these institutions, like “from the valley to the sea” ( from the valley to the sea ). Some are saying,” We do n’t want no two- state, we take it all”. And, you know, portion of it is, you know, individuals can kind of state what they want, but when you’re talking about “from the valley to the sea”, you’re basically saying you want a second atrocities, that you want to clean Israel off the map, and that’s what Hamas stands for.
” That’s why Hamas perpetrated the October 7 attack. DeSantis questioned how many of these protesters have really studied the history of the conflict in response to the evidence that that is not what we want to see in terms of officials around this region.

DeSantis said:
In truth, you can see that there has never been a Palestinian state if you really study the history of this. That was]the ] Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years, then the British Mandate, then the UN Partition Plan, and, basically, Israel accepted that, and the Arabs rejected it, and they went to war, and they lost. So that can be discussed.
” But I think a lot of these people that are just spouting nonsense, they do n’t know what they’re talking about”, the governor added.
