Missouri Gov. A bill that prohibits abortion providers and their affiliates from receiving Medicaid reimbursement was signed into law on Thursday by Senator Mike Parson ( R ).
Since direct funding for pregnancies is already prohibited in the state, HB 2634 modifies the regulations to make it illegal for tax money to go to any “affiliates thereof” or any facilities that offer pregnancies.

The past act allowed any MO HealthNet member, including abortion services, to get money from the country’s Uninsured Women’s Health Program.
The bill, sponsored by State Rep. Cody Smith ( R ),  , is aimed at defunding Planned Parenthood from public funds entirely.  ,
After the bill passed the government, Smith said in an April statement that” House Bill 2634 just codifies in our rules that we will not permit abortion services or their, their, members to be reimbursed through our state’s Medicaid program.” I’m happy to support legislation that prevents the funding of contraception services for our taxpayers. This is a life-affirming voting.
Governor Gouvernement remarked,” Our leadership has been the strongest pro-life leadership in Missouri history.” Parson said in a , media release on Thursday. ” We’ve ended all democratic abortions in this position, approved new aid for mothers, expecting mother, and children, and, with this costs, ensured that we are not sending taxpayer money to abortion services for any purpose”.
He continued,” We thank the General Assembly members for bringing this significant matter to my desk.”
The maneuver was criticized by Democrats as “extreme”.
In a statement released by FOX2, Missouri Democrat Party Chair Russ Carnahan said,” This act is just another terrible attack on sexual liberty deployed by the Missouri Republican Party, despite watching citizens across the country repeatedly reject this extraordinary government overreach at the ballot box.”  ,
” Missouri has one of the most extreme abortion bans on the books, and Missouri Republicans want to go further”, he complained.
Planned Parenthood’s Great Plains and St. Louis chapters made the following statement:
The tens of thousands of Missourians who rely on Planned Parenthood for essential health care are deeply disappointed and dissatisfied with Governor Parson’s decision to pass this bill. This bill violates federal Medicaid law and defies the highest court’s decision in Missouri. By denying Medicaid patients ‘ right to receive health care from Planned Parenthood, politicians are directly obstructing access to much- needed health services, including birth control, cancer screenings, annual wellness exams, and STI testing and treatment.  ,
In Missouri’s health care safety net, Planned Parenthood health centers are extremely important. Planned Parenthood’s unsupported status puts the state’s entire health care system at risk, as well as the health of Missourians in general. We will continue to fight for Missourians ‘ rights to the care they deserve and need. We will do everything we can to continue serving our patients in Missouri and beyond with quality, compassionate, live- saving health care.
More than 380, 000 signatures were delivered to State Sec. by the pro-choice group Missourians for Constitutional Freedom and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Last week, Jay Ashcroft ( R ) visited his office in hopes of urging voters to repeal the state’s abortion ban.  ,
This morning, @Missourians4CF and the @aclu_mo dropped off more than 380, 000 signatures to the secretary of state’s office in hopes of asking voters later this year to overturn Missouri’s abortion ban. #moleg pic. twitter.com/vzdvdP26dx
