House Republicans are putting more pressure on the Biden administration to reveal how many workers have escaped the southern boundary and flown straight into the country from abroad.
On Thursday, House members in Missouri sent Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas a email asking for information on the roughly 400, 000 non-American people who the Biden presidency has eluded the pardon approach to entice immigrants.
” Despite allowing over 10 million illegal crossings at our southern border, the President is still finding new ways to bring foreign nationals into our country”, Rep. Mark Alford ( R- MO ) said. President Biden “has allowed nearly half a million people to fly directly into the United States,” according to the statement.
In early 2023, the Department of Homeland Security announced it was expanding U. S. Customs and Border Protection’s mobile app, CBP One, to incorporate a new feature that allowed up to 30, 000 workers from four states with authoritarian governments — Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela — to , fly into the U. S. for observation, and they could then probably be paroled into the country. The CHNV system is the name of the effort.
Through the programme, citizens from those countries request “advance go approval” through the CBP One mobile apps to get professional flights “at their own price” directly to U. S. airports. No pardon is actually granted by the software.
Citizens of those four countries who are applying from abroad to soar into the U. S. for an interview with customs at the airports may have a partner in the country willing to support them financially, undergo safety vetting, prove they can give for a plane ticket to a U. S. airport, get vaccinated for measles, polio, and the coronavirus, and travel within 90 days.
Republicans were initially concerned that the move was a bizarre attempt to lower illegal immigration rates by allowing otherwise inadmissible immigrants to enter the country while hiding their luggage in airports across the country.
According to a recent Fox News report on airport arrivals in the first eight months of its rollout, migrants entering the country’s top 45 airports, primarily in South Florida, have flown in. Flights have also arrived in Missouri, raising the lawmakers ‘ concerns.
If an immigrant is found to have “urgent humanitarian or significant public benefit reasons,” a CBP officer will make the decision to grant them parole and permit them to stay in the country for two years. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 does not specify what “urgent humanitarian” or” significant public benefit” can include or not include.
The six GOP lawmakers — Reps. Ann Wagner, Blaine Luetkemeyer, Sam Graves, Eric Burlison, Jason Smith, and Alford — , told Mayorkas in the letter that the DHS has gone “far beyond” its authority as outlined in the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act.
The Biden Administration “blatantly disregards the law’s case-by-case basis provision” in the letter, claiming that it “abused this authority to grant mass parole to foreign nationals based on state of origin.” The INA reaffirms that an individual’s immigration status cannot be changed by granting parole, that they must be returned to their home country, and that their case must continue to be handled in the same way that any other person applying for admission to the United States.

Since parole is only supposed to last for two years, the government must provide by the end of May the details of how the government is tracking the 400, 000 immigrants admitted through the CHNV program.
The Biden administration has argued that migrants are not paying criminal organizations to smuggle them over the southern border because of the CHNV initiative, which it claims is a legitimate use of parole authority.
