In what could be a caring sign for his campaign, former president Joe Biden is beginning to publicly criticize surveys that show him trailing behind him in the presidential election.
On Wednesday, Biden made a wild trip through east Wisconsin and Chicago. In what is expected to be one of his heaviest fight state, Biden is working to raise money and support there.
Speaking at the Chicago function,  , where he was raising funds likely to be spent in local swing states,  , Biden cited a Quinnipiac surveys showing him leading Trump by 6 items. He did so by downplaying the importance of polling in general, then followed that away.
At the opulent Palmer House Hotel, Biden addressed supporters,” I do n’t think any of the polls matter very much this early. ” It’s hard to get a great surveys these days. Most people no longer had hard lines because it’s possible to call someone on a smartphone and get them to reply. It takes often 30 or 40 names to get one person to answer”.
The leader has a good reason to dismiss new elections. All other surveys show a link or a Trump direct, with the Quinnipiac survey being the exception. In Wisconsin, Trump leads RealClearPolitics by a half-point.
Trump leads by 1.2 items nationwide, whereas Biden led by 4.4 positions at this point in the 2020 period. According to national historian and biographer Craig Shirley, Biden is very particular about every poll despite what he says.
The polls are” the first thing Biden looks at every day,” Shirley said. ” That’s the very first thing he looks at, ahead of anything else. He’s a life legislator. He obsesses about the elections of elections. The elections, the staff, the funding. Everything except the concerns”.
Shirley continued, citing cases from Governor Jimmy Carter in 1980 to President Jimmy Carter in 1980. Ron DeSantis ( R- FL ) last year.
” All lost individuals are in denial”, Shirley said. The single ballot that matters is the one on Election Day, he’s going to say next. That’s what position losers usually say”.
However, many politicians have won the election without first poll results.
Despite popular belief that Thomas Dewey had won, Harry Truman defeated him in 1948, which is still the most well-known example. Carter and Reagan both had first guide over Reagan in 1980, Michael Dukakis and Mitt Romney both held the electoral advantage over Barack Obama in October 2012, respectively.
In a CNN poll taken only two days before the election, Hillary Clinton gained 6.5 items in May 2016 and by 12 items in the election.
With all of those cases in thinking, Rutgers University history, multimedia studies, and media professor David Greenberg thinks the leader has a place.
According to Greenberg,” Biden is correct that polling has a lot of reliability issues, including the very low response rate.” ” He’s also correct that it’s too early for the surveys to be meaningful”.
Even though the votes in a few key swing states were near, Biden continued to easily earn the popular vote in 2020.
Biden is doubling down on criticizing Trump over his anti-abortion attitude and his willingness to accept the election results, among other things, now that he is also trailing the same adversary.
Biden said in Chicago,” He’s now worried that the citizens will hold him accountable for what he said, after claiming that Roe v. Wade was overturned was because of him.” ” Well, we have news for Trump: The citizens are going to hold him accountable”.
The government’s hapless noncampaign prevent on Wednesday came in Racine, Wisconsin, where he unveiled a multibillion- money Microsoft job on the same webpage as a Trump- backed venture that underdelivered. Perhaps that prevent had a strong strategy angle, seeking to compare Biden’s company success with Trump’s failure.

As Election Day approaches, Biden’s influence is likely to grow, especially if elections show him trailing Trump in swing state.
According to Greenberg,” the applicant who is behind often denies the importance of polls, while the candidate who is away often touts them.” ” That’s been true since the dawn of voting. Although I ca n’t read Biden’s mind, I think his camp is starting to worry a little more than they should.
