Joe Biden, the chairman, wants to stop Hamas from destroying.
His threat to claim Israel bombs and artillery shells in Rafah, Gaza, where the last Hamas regiments are hiding, is clear.
The White House constantly refrained from confirming or refuting that the United States was already withholding large weapons from Israel, which had been the subject of days of misdirection.
Biden had earlier said that his devotion to Israel’s security was “ironclad”. Both Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeated those words, giving primary evidence that weapons were actually being withheld.
How could an “ironclad” determination and a choice to refuse Israel weapons during a terrorist attack be reconciled, according to Jean-Pierre and Austin.
Eventually, Biden explained to CNN that while Israel would still have technological advancements like the Iron Dome, which is purely defensive, it would not be able to attack Hamas as it hid among Arab citizens.
But Israel may just wait to get attacked by Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and their Iranian donors, and live in constant fear of another October 7, more than going after the jihadists and winning the war.
There is no reason to believe they can carry out the October 7 attack, according to Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA ) who assured Fox News on Tuesday.
What is needed, he said, is a “diplomatic” alternative — one that leaves Hamas alive as both a military and political organization, certainly, but with “new management”.
He did not explain how Hamas may be prevented from becoming a “new” state in Gaza.
The White House may say that it still supports the promise that Biden made to Israel to kill Hamas when questioned about it. But, Biden and his team state, there is a way to remove Hamas without going into Rafah.
What that means has not been explained.
Did Hamas simply give up peacefully? Did its leaders consent to being taken out of the country? Will Muslim countries, who have refused to accept innocent Israeli civilians as refugees, welcomed tons of terrorists?
On Thursday, the presidency rolled out a new explanation: attacking Hamas in Rafah may produce it , stronger.
Yes, it would be advantageous to pursue the jihadists and to kill them. It would also, according to the White House and the State Department, improve Hamas’s liquidity at the negotiating table, as — well, just that.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby said:” If I ‘m]Gaza- based Hamas leader ] Mr.]Yahya ] Sinwar, and I’m sitting down in my tunnel… and I’m seeing innocent people falling victim to major significant combat operations in Rafah, then I have less of an incentive to want to come to the negotiating table”.
As Israeli army closed in on him, Kirby might have thought that “major major battle businesses” by Israel would likely include killing Hamas terrorists. This would have given Sinwar a strong opportunity to negotiate for the launch of the hostages.
But, no.
Israelis who previously trusted Biden’s caution—” Don’t” — now understand that it did not apply to Iran, or Hezbollah, somewhat, it applied to , them.
Do n’t go into Rafah. Do n’t destroy Hamas. Hezbollah, which has forced the evacuation of Israel’s entire northern border region and is occupying southern Lebanon in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1707, should n’t be attacked. Do n’t retaliate against Iran for launching 300 rockets and drones. Do n’t win.
Donald Trump took the opposite view. He simply had to make it clear that he would allow Israel to pursue any success it needed if it was attacked by Iran or its extremist proxies. Additionally, he stopped funding Palestinian-run institutions that supported or discounted violence.
The Abraham Accords, the first harmony contracts in the Middle East in a century, led to four years of restraint for Israel.
Collins resumed providing money for corrupt organizations. He resumed his pressure on Israel. And he tried to remove Israel’s democratically- elected president.
Then, terrified of losing Michigan, Biden is essentially siding with Hamas. On Tuesday, he attempted to save the new Fascists with a statement about the Holocaust, and he attempted to do so on Wednesday.
The good news is that even voters who do n’t care about Israel see Biden breaking an “ironclad” promise. He will never be trusted afterwards, in my opinion.
