Hamas is still holding five British captives. The American citizens have not forgotten them, despite the fact that our officials appear to have forgotten them.
Hamas murdered 1, 200 citizens in Israel in the October 7, 2023, evil assault, and took more than 250 victims. There are still about 130 hostages being held by Hamas, not all of whom are still intact, despite some hostages having been freed.
Five of them are U. S. people.
The five British victims who are still in Hamas ‘ prison are, Keith Siegel, 65, Sagui Dekel- Chen, 35, Omer Neutra, 22, Edan Alexander, 20, and Hersh Goldberg- Polin, 23.
Each one is briefly described below.
Hersh Goldberg- Polin
The next day Goldberg- Polin’s parents saw him, was on October 6, the night before Hamas ‘ attack on Israel, straight before he left to go trekking with a buddy, Aner Shapira.
His mother, Rachel Goldberg, last heard from her brother the following night, receiving two writings from him. In one, he told his parents that he loved them. The other text message said:” I’m sorry”.
The family eventually found out that Goldberg- Polin and Shapira, had attended the Supernova audio event, where 364 attendees were brutally murdered by Hamas jihadists.
A roadside jet shelter was found by Goldberg-Polin and Shapira.
Hamas terrorists threw grenades into the house as they were hiding out, causing Goldberg-Polin to fall from the neck down in the elbow. Next he tied a bandage around his own arm.
Shapira, who was afterwards buried at Mount Herzl Cemetery in Jerusalem, threw bombs up out of the house, according to witness. After some time, Hamas extremists informed the shelter’s residents that they would accompany them, and Goldberg-Polin was loaded into a pickup truck along with other victims.
Keith Siegel
Arab residents stormed their house in the community of Kfar Aza, killing Keith Siegel and his family Aviva, 62. After being driven to Gaza in their own car, the couple was finally sold to Hamas jihadists.
Aviva Siegel has since spoken out about her day in prison and was eventually freed during a ceasefire in November 2023.
During an appointment with CBC News in April, Aviva Siegel explained that the pair had been “moved 13 days” and had encountered “lots of extremists”, describing each as being “worse than the other”.
Keith Siegel had moved to Israel in 1980, decades after his nephew Lee Siegel had done thus, and he met his wife, Aviva, on the community where Lee and Keith’s girlfriend- in- laws had lived. The pair eventually adopted four children and moved to the Kfar Aza Kibbutz.
One of their babies, Shir Siegel, had tried to call both of her relatives on Saturday, only to be informed that her parents were unable to speak.
Sagui Dekel- Chen
The son of Connecticut-born Jonathan Dekel-Chen, Sagui Dekel- Chen lived on the Nir Oz kibbutz with his wife, Avital, and their children. Sagui’s parents also live on the same kibbutz.
Sagui’s father explained to the Times of Israel that his brother and others had raised the alarm in their community after witnessing “heavily armed and perfectly organized” Hamas terrorists entering their area.
Sagui and other members of the community safety team battled Hamas terrorists for hours after checking in with his wife and kids.
” My child- in- legislation and the kids are then traumatized”, Dekel- Chen told the store. ” Avital listened to her husband’s struggle in hand-to-hand combat.”
A Easter seder with empty seats and pictures of each of the 36 victims was held by relatives and friends of the 36 persons who had been taken from Kibbutz Nir Or in April.
Sagui’s mother, Neomit Dekel- Chen, was even taken prisoner. After being shot at Hamas terrorists and the driver of an electric cart carrying the hostages by Israel Defense Forces ( IDF), she reportedly managed to escape.
Edan Alexander
Edan Alexander was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, and grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey. After graduating from high school, he went on to visit the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion.
At the time of Hamas ‘ harm, he had been stationed near the Gaza Strip, and a small after 6: 30 a. m., he had informed his daughter, Yael Alexander that he was safe.
However, she was unable to accomplish her brother until about 7:00 a.m., and the family learned that Edan was one of the hostages that Hamas had taken.
Yael told NBC News in an interview that she was aware that her brother was one of the victims and that she knew there was “hope now.”
” When they told me that, I was like, breathing for a minute, because I knew, OK, so we have a desire now”, she said.
Omer Neutra ,
Omer Neutra was a tank commander close to Gaza at the time of Hamas ‘ assault on October 7.
Omer enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces after graduating from high school in New York City.
He went there for the right causes, you know, he felt that he wanted to protect, and he’s not the kind of person that was looking for a battle,” Omer’s mother, Orna Neutra explained.
The day before Hamas ‘ strike, Omer’s parents last heard from him.
Edan Alexander and Omer Neutra apparently knew each other while stationed close to the Gaza borders.
” We did n’t know the family beforehand, but after the fact, we’ve been told that our boys knew each other and that they shared a lot, being that they had a similar background,” Omer’s mom said.
