At a pro-Hamas demonstration in London next year, an Egyptian exile waved the St. George’s Cross flag and consumed a banana, and was detained for supposedly making a prejudiced gesture.
Niyak Ghorbani, who personal- describes as an” Persian host in]the ] UK”, has become a regular fixture at pro- Hamas, pro- Israel protests in London in recent months for attending with a signal reading” Hamas are Extremists”. The signal reflects the American government’s legal position: Hamas is a criminal organization that is protected by the Terrorism Act 2000, despite its potential provocation for the protesters. Ghorbani has been detained numerous times for the mark, too.
The anti-Hamas advocate was detained once more after allegedly carrying a banana and carrying the flag of England, the nation he was in at the time of his arrest.
According to the British newspaper the  and the Daily Telegraph, Ghorbani was informed by officers that” the St. George flag was occasionally flown by whites and that carrying the fruit could be seen as a racist movement.”

Bananas have recently emerged as a small anti-Hamas opposition symbol following the University of California, Los Angeles, California’s” Palestine Solidarity Encampment,” which was evidently canceled outright due to an allergy-related allergy among the protesters. A Breitbart News journalist was even informed that no fruits or nuts were taken inside the campage if an communicable disease face was on.
The no-banana rule was interpreted as being fairly absurd and sparked some ridicule when it was combined with other stringent rules at the protest, which were seen as humorous given the political timbre usually of a protest very much against Israel’s borders.
It is claimed that in some circumstances, a fruit is a bigoted image, but , Ghorbani says that is not relevant in the case of a pro- Hamas rally in London. He told , The Telegraph:” I got one of my two fruits and started eating it. I did n’t make any racist gestures or insults. Someone must have complained that I was being racist while I was just eating a fruit, and I never showed a fruit to a dark people. This is a completely fabricated problem because I did not see any dark people there. I’m a foreigner, and I’ve not made racist comments. I just made joy of the pro-Palestinian protest with it like they do in America.

As recently reported,  , Ghorbani has been arrested many times in the past for, he says, making scientific legitimate statements and shop- protesting pro- Hamas videos. According to police, Ghorbani was detained by the Metropolitan Police after they reviewed the incident’s video and discovered that he was actually the one who had been attacked. In the case of a March imprisonment, he was eventually detained for his actions.
Ghorbani was also prevented from attending demonstrations altogether by the police, who issued an order and used loan problems that stated his removal from the area, which a judge after overturned. Following the mango arrest past Saturday, the same tactics are being used repeatedly, though the protester is now subject to additional bail conditions.
Per the statement,  , Ghorbani is then banned from entering two main London boroughs either, and from attending “pro- Palestine” rallies in London.
