Kenya eyes Rafael’s Spyder air defense system – report

According to the&nbsp, BulgarianMilitary .com&nbsp, website, a Rafael delegation visited&nbsp, Athens&nbsp, three weeks ago to present the Spyder system to the high command of the Greek air force.

According to the latest report, &nbsp, Kenya, which like its companions sees a growing need for air defense systems, approached&nbsp, Israel&nbsp, as the region known for having the best for techniques. &nbsp, Kenya&nbsp, is now focusing on the Spyder method, which according to international media outlets another African country, &nbsp, Morocco, has previously bought. According to the information, however, &nbsp, Kenya ‘s&nbsp, involvement in the Spyder system particularly may yet change.

A bargain for the price of the Spyder program to&nbsp, Kenya&nbsp, may indicate an interesting shift for Rafael, since in its breakdown of revenue for 2023, the African continent accounts for only 1 % of the total. Rafael had history profits of NIS 14.04 billion last year, 21 % more than in 2022. Its main markets were&nbsp, Israel&nbsp, ( 54 % ), &nbsp, Europe&nbsp, ( 19 % ) and&nbsp, Asia&nbsp, ( 19 % ). The&nbsp, Americas&nbsp, were not an especially significant sales destination ( 7 % ).

Spyder is a cutting-edge air defense system that is currently in use by many forces around the world, including those in the Czech Republic. It provides security at various ranges against a variety of threats: UAVs, plane, helicopters, and quick- range ballistic missiles. The system uses two people of Rafael weapons: Python and Derby, to intercept threats.

Within the past few months, Rafael has presented a fresh design of the Spyder program, called&nbsp, All- in- One, offering a full air defense system consisting of radar, the TopLite EO/IR detector, command and control, and Python and Derby interceptors, all mounted on one vehicle. Last January, Rafael carried out a successful trial of the Spyder system in the&nbsp, All- in- One&nbsp, configuration together with the&nbsp, Ministry of Defense Directorate of Defense Research and Development.
