Ten invited loudspeakers have already turned down the casino at Harvard College’s” Class Day,” largely due to ongoing demonstrations and hatred at the elite college, and Harvard College is having a hard time finding speakers for” Class Day” at its graduating later this month.
The , Harvard Crimson reported Friday:
With less than two days until the meeting for academic seniors, the Harvard Alumni Association must consider a speaker after accepting offers to speak at the annual Class Day of Harvard College.
The prospective speakers declined for a variety of factors, including an inability to advertising with Harvard during a time of discussion, scheduling conflicts, and large remuneration requests, according to Senior Class First Marshal Fez S. Zafar ‘ 24.

The difficulty to advertising with Harvard comes after the University faced intense backlash over its , first response , to Hamas ‘ Oct. 7 , assault on Israel. The , continued pro- Palestine encampment , rally in Harvard Yard has also , called into question , the transportation of this year’s Commencement and Class Day festivities — which usually occur in Tercentenary Theatre, where protesters recently set up more tents.
A Harvard College director told the Crimson that none of the listeners had cited” the ongoing discussion” as the reason for declining the proposal, but the , Crimson seemed to agree.
Class Day is the day before the official commencement service, and the statement is generally lighthearted.
Famous Class Day speakers in the past include President Joe Biden in 2017, Facebook key operations officer Sheryl Sandberg in 2014, comedian Larry Wilmore in 2023 — and, probably most famously, Ali G ( Sacha Baron Cohen ), in figure, in 2004.

Individuals who are taking part in the “encampment,” which increased over the weekend as campaigners appeared to have cut hair on the Harvard Yard gates to help people who are not affiliated with the school, have been suspended from Harvard.
