After neighbors ‘ disapproval due to noisy parties and drug use, the Long Beach, California neighborhood’s College Estates neighborhood became the first to outlaw uncontrolled Airbnb accommodations.
After months of being forced to rent the homes by tourists and creating all kinds of issues, native Andy Oliver petitioned the state’s Community Development Department on Monday, according to Fox News.
The outlet claimed that those visitors even listened to loud music while the area was attempting to get some sleep at night while also taking advantage of the country’s strict drug laws. However, the problem came to a brain when a shooting target wound up on Oliver’s house.
Oliver continued to attend city council meetings throughout the year 2023 in an effort to solve the issue, according to KCAL News ‘ May 8 report.

The Fox statement continued as a result of his work, more than half of the roughly 800 homes have voted in favor and the updated limitations have been put in place.
” Long Beach is permitted to possess 1, 000 uncontrolled or unhostested short-term rentals,” according to a city law that was passed in 2020. However, a clause allowed citizens to travel petitions that was ban these types of rentals”, the post said.
Homeowners in College Estates must then hire a host to stay on site or leave after their license expires.
The Long Beach Safe Neighborhood Coalition, a nonprofit organization, reported to Fox News that it has received comments from Florida and North Carolina neighborhoods where people share the same issues.
