Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia, alleged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had engaged in “genocide” as a result of Israel’s self-defense functions against Hamas.
” Mr. Netanyahu, you may come down in history as murderous. Dropping weapons on thousands of innocent children, girls, and older people does not make you a hero”, Petro wrote in a social media post later Saturday, local time. You are right next to the murderers of the Jewish people in Europe.
” A murder is a genocide no matter if you have a church or not”, he continued. ” Test at least to quit the murder”.

In earlier May, Colombia broke diplomatic relations with Israel, which Hamas apparently applauded, thanks to Petro, a former member of the Socialist M19 guerrilla. Petro has claimed that Petro himself claimed that Petro has previously claimed that some of its people have trained with pro-Palestine military forces in Libya.
In response to a blog the Israeli prime minister made on Saturday where he claimed Israel would not be “lectured by an anti-Semitic admirer of Hamas,” the Brazilian far-left president made the accusation against Netanyahu.

Petro’s public requests on Friday for the International Criminal Court ( ICC ) to issue an arrest warrant against the Israeli prime minister were followed by Netanyahu’s posting.
” Netanyahu did not stop the murder, which implies an international arrest permit from the Criminal Court”, Petro said on Friday. The creation of a security force in Gaza must be taken up by the Security Council.

More than six centuries of goodwill between his land and Israel, which was nurtured by a series of traditional leaders in Colombia before Petro, have been almost entirely destroyed by Petro. Petro has consistently attacked Israel in the months following Hamas’s occupation of Israel on October 7, posting antisemitic remarks on social media and in speeches that constantly criticize Israel for its actions. The Hamas crimes of October 7 left more than 1, 200 useless and resulted in the violence of around 250 people, of which an estimated 130 remain in prison.

Petro’s declarations of Israel culminated with the far- left leader ordering Colombia to reduce its ties with Israel on May 1 during the Brazilian president’s standard” May Day” events, a trip that celebrates socialism.
” Ok, in front of you, the state of change, the President of the Republic, informs that tomorrow, diplomatic ties with the state of Israel may be broken for having a state, for having a president, a murderous one”! Petros stated in his May Day statement.
In a social media post on Saturday, Petro claimed that” semites should n’t be the architects of genocide because they suffered it.”
The concept read,” Just as the Holocaust against the Jews in Nazi Europe is unacceptable, so too is the Holocaust against the Palestinians.” ” I am certainly a follower of Hamas because I am a follower of democratic, peasant, and liberal democracy”.
” My democratic, republican, peasant, enlightenment, and spiritual principles lead me to accept the backwardness committed by Netanyahu, which is called murder and anti- humanity”, the text continued. ” Neither anti- Semitic nor anti- human. If Gaza dies, humanity dies”.
Petro claimed “responsibility” for a non- binding resolution , the United Nations General Assembly recently passed asking the U. N. Security Council ( UNSC ) to reconsider granting full membership status to” Palestine”.
Petro’s continued condemnation of Israel came shortly after Israel’s self-defense operations against Hamas in October 2023. At the time, Petro accused Israel of turning Gaza into a concentration camp the likes of Auschwitz, comparing Israel’s actions to those of Nazi Germany.
Petro said at the time,” If I had lived in Germany in 1933, I would have fought on the side of the Jews, and if I had lived in Palestine in 1948, I would have fought on the Palestinian side.” ” Now the neo- Nazis want the destruction of the Palestinian people, freedom, and culture. The Israeli and Palestinian people’s demands are now the responsibility of the Democrats and progressives.
