Last Wednesday, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (aka MTG ) brought a vote to the floor of the U. S. House to remove Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- LA ). The movement was rejected despite the assistance of almost the whole Democratic Caucus.
And why did the House Democrats support a Republican listener? You just need to take a look at what has happened since Mike Johnson became speaker only six months ago to answer that. Never long after the events of Johnson’s session, symptoms immediately began to emerge that this Republican from Louisiana was no longer a fervent liberal.
The House voting on a temporary funding bill, which came only three weeks after Johnson became speaker, was the first major test. The bill was supported by 109 House Democrats and 127 House Republicans at the time of the vote, but 93 traditional Republicans opposed because it failed to include any saving cuts or measures to secure the U.S. border. Speaker Johnson allowed the Democrats to win rather than using his lot to gain some traditional victories for the British people.
This may have been the first indication to some Republicans that the liberal they chose to be speaker was delivering almost the same Democrat-led vote as McCarthy did only one month due to his removal.
On January 19, 2024, Johnson once more successfully passed a temporary cash costs with House Democrats ‘ fervent support. The bill received the least votes from half of House Republicans because, once more, it did n’t address the border crisis.
Conservative House Republicans pushed for borders act attachment and spending cuts in March, but Johnson once more pushed through the expenses because Democrats had overwhelmingly supported it.
Just one month afterward, in April, Speaker Johnson agreed to extend the controversial FISA act once more with Democrats ‘ unwavering support. Sensitive Republicans pushed through the act without this wise amendment, which required the government to have a warrant before spying on Americans. Only a year before, in 2023, Reuters reported a U. S. judge’s discovering that the FBI poorly used the FISA collection 278, 000 occasions.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) threw out the impeachment documents for Vice President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas the following week after two years of congressional hearings and investigations.
How was this historic rebuke of the House of Representatives handled? Only two weeks later, Johnson rewarded Schumer by backing the support of the Israel and Taiwan funding bill that had been re-packaged as a foreign support costs. Johnson and Schumer gave Taiwan more than$ 8 billion in taxpayer money despite the fact that Taiwan is now unintentionally depressed and the U.S. bill is out of control.
Instead of tying cash to the passing of H. R. 2, a bill that would eventually near the southern border, Speaker Johnson chose to contain$ 300 million in U. S. taxpayer funds for a Ukrainian medicine programme, while the U. S. has suffered over 400, 000 fentanyl deaths since Joe Biden took office.
Speaker Johnson said the$ 95 billion bill, with no strings attached, was the “right thing to do”, and Biden summarily withholding-key-arms-from-israel/”>decided to withhold funding to Israel. Johnson thinks fixing these other nations, rather than ours, is the right thing to do because Americans are having trouble paying for gas and groceries. Once again, this bill did not include any measures to secure the U. S. borders.
Marjorie Taylor Greene chose to put America first because she was aware that the motion to vacate would not succeed.
Former U.S. Consul General of Bermuda and Conair Corporation vice president Lee Rizzuto are both well-known.
