A late discharged U.S. Marine was detained on Friday on suspicion of organizing mass shootings and threatening to use threats on social media.
A Monday hit transfer by the U. S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey noted that 23- year- ancient Joshua Cobb, a citizen of Trenton, New Jersey, was arrested on Friday and charged for” transmitting a threat in federal and international commerce”.
The cost against the original U. S. Marine comes after the 23- year- old apparently posted online that he wanted to “progress into a prolific killer” and” produce mayhem on the White community”, according to the U. S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.
According to court documents, Cobb had looked into possible sites for a mass shooting, including a nearby treadmill and an Aldi grocery store. Additionally, Cobb reportedly had papers on his cellphone about entering New Jersey with weapons.
Announcing Cobb’s imprisonment, U. S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said Cobb joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 2023, started standard education last June, and was stationed in California prior to being discharged from the military.

According to Monday’s press release, Cobb posted a speech on social media on December 17, 2022, announcing that he had started to prepare for an “attack”.
” The reason I particularly want to target white folks is that, as a black man, they will NEVER know my struggles”, Cobb reportedly wrote. ” Same way I will never understand their struggles, but I do n’t care to. I want to erase them. Really, all of them, but as many as I can in this situation. I’ve already started making plans for my attack as of right now.
Cobb claimed that his attack would take place in New Jersey in 2023, but he claimed he intended to carry out it close to a white holiday.
I’ve been to a place where I’ve been for the past year and I’m certain no one there is equipped to stop me from spraying them to the ground, Cobb said in his post. ” I already know where I’ll go after the mayhem, and I’ve already acquired two of the four weapons I intend to use.”
Additionally, Cobb posted other posts from April and May 2023 that the former Marine said he wanted to commit serial murder on Facebook.
According to Cobb,” I hope I do turn into a serial killer because I feign to hate life because everyone will suffer one day.” ” I promise I’ll let everyone experience my excruciating pain.” My deep, sincere, raw, &, sharp pain”.
If convicted, Cobb could face a$ 250, 000 fine and up to five years in prison.
