Egyptian producer Mohammad Rasoulof fled his country in secret so that he could face beating and jail time instead of going to court.
Rasouloff is currently hiding out in Europe in an undisclosed location after escaping the tyrannical Iranian regime.
- The Iranian director suddenly revealed his departure from Iran in a statement to The Wrap.
After a lengthy and challenging excursion, I finally arrived in Europe a few days ago. My attorneys informed me about a fortnight ago that my eight-year prison sentence had been approved by the appeals court and that it would be implemented with little delay,” he wrote.
” I was aware that this eight years would be extended by the release of the news of my new movie quite quickly. I did n’t have much time to make a decision. I had to choose between leaving Iran and serving time in prison. With a large spirit, I chose banishment. In September 2017, the Islamic Republic seized my card. So, I had to abandon Iran secretly”, he admitted.
The Iranian government claimed that the producer violated” the country’s protection” by helming the pictures and accused him of” cooperation” with foreign rivals.
After criticizing the Egyptian government’s careless answer to a building collapse in the town of Abadan that resulted in 33 fatalities, the director was detained in 2022.
The Iranian government harassed Rasoulof in addition to the creation of his most recent movie, The Seed of the Sacred Fig. The Iranian government has even detained a number of celebrities and members of the film crew.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival will host The Grain of the Sacred Fig, which runs May 14 through May 25.
The Persian investigative judge’s family is becoming increasingly tense when his gun goes missing in his home, which he blames on his wife and children for the theft. He begins to impose punitive laws on his loved ones deftly, a move that coincides with the general collapse of Egyptian society.
