The Department of Justice, and more specifically its Office of Inspector General ( OIG), enjoys giving the impression that its practices are run by impartial, democratic attorneys whose only objective is to look into and combat corruption within the organization. Records, yet, show the regulator is staffed by Democrat activists willing to employ their power to crush their political opponents.
This politics can be seen in how the OIG, the DOJ’s inside guardian business, has handled the investigation of Trump’s Justice Department, especially its investigation into two investigations by then-Alaska Attorney General William Barr. These IG “investigations,” information on which are forthcoming, require checking press releases and different contacts to determine whether the Court broke the law or flouted administrative guidelines when it launched its own investigations.
While many Americans wish Trump’s Department of Justice had done far more to root out vote issues in 2020, political Democrats in OIG say Barr and other Trump representatives did too much by perhaps acknowledging the existence of discarded Trump votes that were found in Pennsylvania during the 2020 election. Trump appointees will officially be found to have neither broken nor violated Court policies, despite a long, cheap, and invasive investigation once the report is released.
After requiring nursing homes to say Covid- 19 patients into their vulnerable populations, frequently without sufficient testing, political Democrats in the watchdog business are also looking into Trump appointees for requesting data from the governors of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, according to various sources with knowledge of the matter.
Really.
Trust in the DOJ has completely cratered in recent years, mainly due to its primary role in spreading the Democrat- funded lie that Trump won the 2016 election by colluding with Russia, a conspiracy theory also believed by many Democrats. The department coordinated the shocking FBI home raid and lawfare against former President Donald Trump prior to the 2024 election, as well as conducting interference for alleged lawbreakers in the Biden family business. Merrick Garland, the attorney general of Biden, conspired with Democrat groups to target Catholics as domestic terrorists and directed them at worried parents of schoolchildren.
The DOJ is n’t particularly concerned about these things. Instead, it is criticizing a few crude press releases and memos from Trump officials that were n’t even really taken into account as they should have been.
It’s a perfect illustration of the brokenness of Justice’s OIG, which is purportedly awash with attorneys and DOJ inspectors as well as more than 500 special agents. There’s plenty of egregious abuse and misconduct to investigate in the notoriously troubled department. Former Special Counsel John Durham famously said he would not recommend any additional laws to stop the types of actions taken in the obscene Russia-collusion hoax because the issue was n’t a lack of rules, but rather that” the FBI’s guiding principles of” Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity” are not ingrained in the hearts and minds of those sworn to protect the American people and uphold the [the ] United States ‘ Constitution.
DOJ Partisan Democrats
The IG officials behind the forthcoming reports are, like so many of their colleagues, partisan Democrat activists engaged in left- wing judicial activity. Several of them are shown below.
Christine Monta, who reportedly took part in the IG’s investigation into the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania’s investigation into mail-in ballot mishandling, is now employed by the left-wing MacArthur Justice Center, which boasts about its legal efforts against Trump. She previously was one of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division lawyers on the 2015 lawsuit the Obama administration brought to force public schools to allow boys in girls ‘ bathrooms. She also joined Vanita Gupta, the state’s then-president deputy assistant attorney general, to challenge Texas ‘ voter-identity law. In the years of 2019 and 2020, Monta received$ 1, 014.50 in political donations, all of which went to ActBlue or Elizabeth Warren’s campaign. Monta clerked for left- wing Judge Stephen Reinhardt.
According to the sources who spoke with the media, Jennifer Smith Ramella, who is working on the DOJ’s investigation into deaths in state-run nursing homes in 2020, made 33 donations between 2020 and 2022, all to ActBlue, the Democrats ‘ funding mechanism.
And then there’s Deborah Zerwitz, a former assistant attorney general to Leslie Caldwell, who is herself a rabid leftist. At the IG’s office, Zerwitz is working on the inquiry into Barr and other Trump appointees for their nursing home deaths investigation, the sources say. Since 2007, her 35 political donations, totaling$ 6,466, have only been made to Democrats, including the$ 3,866 she donated to organizations like Biden for President, Biden Victory Fund, and Biden Fight Fund. She is one of the OIG’s highest-paid employees.
Social Media Betrays Left- Wing Bias
Social media accounts for” Deborah Zerwitz” indicate firmly held beliefs. Since February 2019, she has “liked” more than 1,300 posts, almost entirely from radical Democrats and left-wing media.
Against Trump and for Democrats, specifically Biden — Zerwitz liked tweets calling for people to vote Democrat and against Trump and every” Trump enabler” they could find. It was n’t just Trump, according to one tweet she liked in 2020. The GOP was completely aware. They all gotta go. Every single one. The House Republican Crackpot Caucus is larger than ever, according to another member of Hakeem Jeffries.
She liked a tweet saying,” We need to send Donald Trump packing, but we ca n’t stop there. At every level of government, we need to remove his Republican supporters. She liked Democrat operative tweets that warned people against being depressed when the 2020 election rolls, as later ballots would favor Biden. When Biden was called the victor in 2020, she liked tweets celebrating his win.
She liked the tweets that praised Joe Biden’s candidacy for president in 2020 and characterized the choice as one of democracy versus fascism. She liked a tweet praising Biden appointees Merrick Garland, Vanita Gupta, and Lisa Monaco and tweeting that Pete Buttigieg was “brilliant.” She liked tweets celebrating the nominations of people who had worked with Robert Mueller and Andrew Weissmann, two key agents in the Russia- collusion conspiracy theory promulgated against Trump by the DOJ.
She enjoyed former New York Governor tweets. She follows an Obama appointee who previously worked for New Jersey Governor and speaks with Democratic journalist April Ryan about nursing homes. Phil Murphy, whose policies were also being investigated.
She enjoyed tweets praising Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Hillary Clinton Clinton, as well as tweets from Ocasio-Cortez attacking Sens. Because they occasionally voted for Republican judicial nominees, McClint, Collins, and Manchin.
And as much as Zerwitz hates Republicans, she loves Nancy Pelosi and Hakeem Jeffries. One liked tweet reads,” Nancy Pelosi has a cool head in a crisis.” Another person calls Hakeem Jeffries a” superstar.”
But Wait, There’s More
Zerwitz liked tweets supporting discipline for government employees, including police officers, publicly expressing their political views. She liked a tweet from Julie Zebrak on August 25, who criticized Republican political appointees by claiming she had spent 19 years as an attorney for the federal government. I left so that I could help a political campaign and not run afoul of a law preventing fed employees from being political …”
She liked tweets attacking Ivanka Trump, Trump cabinet officials, and Mike Pence. She liked a tweet from the left-wing blog” JoJoFromJerz” that stated,” I hate her.”
Against Republican lawmakers and campaigns — Zerwitz’s hatred of Republicans extended beyond Trump officials. She liked two tweets calling for Amy McGrath’s victory in his previous election and Sen. Mitch McConnell’s ouster as president for “eroding our democracy.” She liked a tweet in which Trump was urged to endorse Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Matt Gaetz, Marco Rubio, and Tom Cotton. She liked a tweet calling for the removal of 15 Republican senators from the impeachment jury so Trump could be convicted.
Zerwitz liked tweets that advocated for Graham’s political opponent, Valerie Jarrett, and for the Supreme Court to expand in response to McConnell. She enjoyed tweets that were against Sens. Chuck Grassley, Josh Hawley, Ron Johnson, John Cornyn, Ted Cruz, and others. She liked a number of tweets that highlighted Kelly Loeffler’s WNBA team’s opposition to her and their support for her.
Any Republican who attended a mask-optional New Year’s party should n’t be able to attend the joint session of Congress on January 6, according to one post Zerwitz liked, specifically mentioning Gaetz and Sen. Rand Paul. She liked a tweet criticizing Kevin McCarthy for talking about vaccines.
Zerwitz liked tweets about prosecutors opposing investigations into 2020 election problems, both against conservative causes and for Democrat ones. She liked Jake Tapper’s tweet making fun of the censorship of conservatives by the PGA and the PGA canceling golf tournaments at Trump courses.
After Florida Gov. She liked a tweet that claimed the migrants were” crime victims” when Ron DeSantis sent some illegal border crossings to Martha’s Vineyard. She liked Ibram Kendi’s tweets, which are in favor of defunding police, and those that are in favor of reparations. She liked a tweet saying” white people” need to support housing/zoning reform and school funding “equity”, and another asking,” Why are mythical white grievances prioritized over the well being of black kids”? She liked Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who supported critical race theory in the military.
She enjoyed a number of pro-abortion tweets, including those that advocate for abortion on demand throughout the entire pregnancy’s nine months and those who oppose those who protect wombs. She liked others calling for an end to the filibuster, expressing racism toward white men, supporting drag shows for children, and supporting transing children.
Zerwitz’s likes included hateful and offensive language directed at Republicans who are Republican. One tweet started with” Attention QANON, MAGAT Fascists” and ended with” SO F*CK OFF.” She liked a tweet that referred to” Trump and his racist homophobic cult members”.
She enjoyed tweets attacking The Federalist and Fox News. She adheres to accounts called” Decoding Fox News” and” I watch Fox News so you do n’t have to,” according to another account’s author.
Against SCOTUS — On her social media accounts, Zerwitz follows Demand Justice, a dark- money- funded group that pushes for left- wing judges and attacks the Supreme Court and Republican- nominated judges.
She liked tweets attacking Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Clarence Thomas. She liked a tweet supporting protests at conservative justices ‘ homes more than a month after a left-wing activist was detained for an assassination attempt on Kavanaugh and his family at their home.
She liked a litany of tweets upset that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the religious rights of a Christian athletic coach. She enjoyed tweets that criticized Roe v. Wade‘s overturning.
Zerwitz liked tweets about ongoing DOJ cases, such as those involving Donald Trump and Gen. Michael Flynn, including one that suggested Flynn should have his rank and pension removed. She liked a tweet attacking the White House statement on the commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence.
Zerwitz liked a number of tweets aimed at former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr, the DOJ, President Trump, and other Trump administration figures, including one in which Norm Ornstein demanded that the tweets be removed from the White House. She liked a Joyce Alene tweet criticizing a DOJ official for leaving a Barr memo, in which she criticized federal prosecutors for allegedly pursuing” specious, speculative, fanciful, or far-fetched claims” but warned against making” specious, speculative, fanciful, or far-fetched claims.” She also liked tweets saying that” not a single career prosecutor at DOJ will miss Bill Barr”, and claiming that Barr had desecrated the DOJ.
Zerwitz liked a tweet from the anti-Trump group Just Security on September 21, 2020 that read,” Barr promotes myth of unaccountable career prosecutor” to justify “unfettered political control over @TheJusticeDept.
Some myths. Zerwitz and her colleagues receive civil service pay and benefits but are frequently operating as Democrat operatives who use their power to go after political opponents. It is unlikely that anyone will hold anyone accountable.
Leak Expert
Before her time with the IG office, Zerwitz worked at DOJ’s Criminal Division, which develops, enforces, and supervises the application of all federal criminal laws. She actually worked for the Office of Enforcement Operations, which “oversees the use of the most sophisticated investigative tools at the Department’s disposal.” Her director there in 2017 described her as a senior counsel with “extensive experience” in the rules governing media leak investigations.
While the DOJ leaked like a sieve during the Trump years, frequently destroying lives and leading to chaos with global implications, few if any leaks were properly investigated.
Unfortunately, the IG’s office’s culture is similar to that of other DOJ offices, far and wide. Take, for instance, Jake Klonoski, the son of a former Oregonian Party chairman and long-time Democrat activist, who received an award for a report that applauded DOJ’s generous handling of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s blatant and premeditated mishandling of classified information.
In an alumnus profile with Stanford Law School, Klonoski said he decided to go to law school after witnessing what he claimed was” the backlash against Muslim- Americans in DC” following the 2001 attacks committed by Islamist terrorists. He claimed that being a part of coordinated so-called gay rights initiatives like redefining marriage were two of his favorite memories of his time on campus. Before joining the IG, Klanoski clerked for left-leaning U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Judge Harry Pregerson.
Klonoski suddenly left the IG office where he served as an attorney- adviser in December 2020. He left and gushed to Stanford Law School about his work on a report that attacked Republican appointees ‘ “zero tolerance” for illegal border crossings, even if they had children.
That report was released in January 2021, but an investigation by the inspector general’s office for housing and urban development determined that an attorney-assistant in the DOJ IG’s office leaked it to The New York Times and NBC News in October 2020, which would have had a negative impact on Trump’s electoral chances that year. The name of the identified leaker was redacted from the report.
The attorney-adviser named by HUD’s IG repeatedly denied being the leaker, but he also” submitted his immediate resignation via e-mail shortly before midnight on December, 2020, shortly after receiving a questionnaire from DOJ OIG that would have required him to confirm that he had not provided information about the]zero tolerance policy review ] Review to members of the media.” Politico covered that departure without naming the leaker. Klonoski did not respond to requests for comment.
Klonoski left for work with the Democratic House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Democratic Democrat Party Party Party in December 2020. DeFazio or other Democrats are n’t sure if they understood why they resigned from the IG office before hiring him.
The DOJ’s troubles are at least partly the result of an inspector general who has completely fallen down on the job of holding the agency accountable. Political investigators who conduct such poor judgments during election years are unlikely to have much of an impact on the reputation.
