More than a few people have accused magician David Copperfield of sexual misconduct over the course of several decades, according to The Guardian on Wednesday.
According to an inspection done by The Guardian, complaints from 16 people have been uncovered, some of whom claim they were under 18 at the time of the situations. Disturbingly, three people allege that Copperfield drugged them before engaging in sexual functions.
The document details encounters dating from the late 1980s and 2014, with the people meeting Copperfield through his extensive job, based on interviews with over 100 people and investigation of officers and court documents.
Copperfield’s authorized staff refuted the charges, asserting that he had “never acted badly with people, let alone someone young”.
Notably, this is n’t the first time Copperfield has faced such allegations. Brittney Lewis accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2018 and drugging her, which he strongly denied at the time. Lewis is one of the people included in The Guardian’s exposé.
However, another woman, preferring privacy, alleged that Copperfield had drugged her and a companion before engaging in sexual activity with them. Copperfield’s doctors denied these statements as nicely, highlighting the lack of complaints when the alleged attack occurred.
One girl, identified under a surname, claimed to have been groomed by Copperfield since she was 15, alleging overdue- nighttime calling and gifts. Their marriage, which she says began consensually when she turned 18, lasted four years. Copperfield’s legal group stated that their relationship was authorized and lawful, vehemently denying any recommendations of cleaning or wrongdoing.
Copperfield’s connection with convicted sex smuggler Jeffrey Epstein has also garnered interest. While Copperfield’s title appeared in sealed court records related to Epstein, his attorneys asserted that he was conscious of Epstein’s offences until they were publicized. ” Our consumer did not know about Epstein’s brutal offences”, the Guardian cited Copperfield’s attorneys as saying. ” Like the rest of the world, he learned about it from the push”.
