    ATF seizes grenade launcher, ‘machine-gun pistols’ in Laredo

    A San Antonio man allegedly attempted to sell a cache of weapons to an undercover agent and drove to the border with a cache of weapons.

    EL PASO, Texas ( Border Report ) – Two men are in police custody for allegedly trying to sell a cache of high- powered firearms to an undercover federal agent in Laredo, Texas, this week.

    A rocket launcher and four changed “machine weapon pistols” are included in the weapons. According to court documents, the weapons were purchased in the Dallas region and delivered to a gentleman named Luis Azael Berlanga in San Antonio.

    According to a problem affidavit filed Friday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Berlanga brought the artillery to Laredo and hired Juan Jose Moreno Jr. to assist with their sale.

    According to the criminal complaint, Berlanga reportedly claimed during discussions with prosecutors that he knew the guns had tools in place to make them act like machine guns and that he traveled from San Antonio to Laredo to offer them.

    Moreno allegedly told law enforcement that Berlanga would give him$ 100 for assisting him in the sale of the weapons. Moreno claimed in the issue that he had formerly assisted Berlanga in selling a Glock with a particular change for steady fire.

    The two people are facing a charge of possessing a system gun without permission. In Laredo, a tentative hearing was scheduled for May 24 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Diana Song Quiroga.
