NEW DELHI: Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan Markle, 42, just undertook a trip to Nigeria, drawing strong emotions from the British royal family. The child’s visit resembled an official royal visit, which caused major confusion among older princes despite their taking a break from royal duties in 2020.
Royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror that the vacation” confirmed the worst concerns” of Harry’s community, making Prince William and King Charles “absolutely furious”. The journey included traditional aspects of a royal visit, such as events, college visits, and discussions with wounded men and the handicapped. Quinn noted,” Whatever you may expect from an established imperial visit was that — the events, the visits to schools and organizations, to wounded warriors and the handicapped. Charles is said to be more worse than anyone who has ever witnessed him.
The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office made it clear that Harry and Meghan were traveling to Nigeria in personal power and that no part of the UK government was in planning their events. The pair acting as working royals was portrayed throughout the visit, which bore all the hallmarks of a traditional royal visit.
During their attend, Meghan inc- hosted a Women in Leadership function with Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, the chairman- general of the World Trade Organization. Referring to Nigeria as “my country”, the Duchess of Sussex described the experience as “eye- opening” and “humbling”. The couple also made child visits to the Lights Academy in Abuja and had a medical visit with a service member who was hurt.
According to royal experts, the royal family is concerned that Harry and Meghan may have gone “rogue” during the trip. Quinn stated,” For Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying,’ We do n’t need your permission to be working royals — we will do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like.'” He added that William and Charles “do n’t like one bit” because their speeches and general demeanor were meant to convey the impression that they are still active royals.
The trip is perceived as a challenge to the traditional royal family, and Harry and Meghan may still have to go through these visits on their own. Quinn suggested William and Charles be left to reflect on the question,” How are we going to control this nightmare situation?”
