Co-host Amna Nawaz responded to President Joe Biden’s request on Thursday’s” PBS News Hour” by referring to the president’s claims that he had “insisted that Hur had mischaracterized the conversations when the records came out” and that he now refuses to release music that could support Biden’s claims. NPR National Justice Correspondent Carrie Johnson also agreed with this assertion, but the White House does had decided it was preferable to transfer music recordings that could be used to defame the leader in election advertising in 2024.
President Biden insisted that Hur had mischaracterized the interviews when the transcripts were released, but now they wo n’t release the audio, according to Nawaz. Does n’t that put the White House in a difficult position in this context?
Johnson responded,” It does a little, but I think the White House may be making a calculation that it’s better to get criticized on that point than to try to transfer the music,” which, according to the White House counsel, could then be sliced and diced and chopped up as part of strategy ads before the November vote.”
