Two people were killed when two police officers were ambushed by Gulf Cartel attackers in a border town in Mexico that Tamaulipas state officials claim is secure. The shooting comes after a full day of cartel-boardings and brawls that sparked fear among citizens.
In the Mexican border town of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, gang attackers started jacking up big trucks and parking them along major thoroughfares to create barriers and build traffic jam. The Gulf Cartel frequently employs blockades to stifle chaos in order to escalate authorities during shootouts or operations where police or military forces may be on the verge of apprehending a performance cartel member.
According to law enforcement sources, the violence started when authorities launched a number of raids in an effort to apprehend the speaking plaza boss, an acting Gulf Cartel commander named Armando” El Pajarito” Lopez Garcez. His top envoy Francisco Sanchez” Wero Motas” Nunez Rincon sent his security detail to fight with the government and set up the barricades in order to protect their head.

State officials confirmed at least one imprisonment during the day of the shootouts, but they did not report any fatalities. Sporadic violence continued into the afternoon and evening when it is thought that Nunez Rincon had been about to be arrested during a fight, but he is still on the run.

On Tuesday evening, a group of militants in many cars ambushed a squad of police officers in the Palmares area. While trying to fight off the militants, two police officers died, and the militants managed to escape.

Leticia Salazar, the mayor’s prospect, claimed on social media that she was walking in the Las Brisas area at the time one of the gunfights started. In a quick film, Salazar claimed that a nearby family allowed her inside their home to watch the battle and that she and her team were forced to flee for safety during the incident.
