Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL ) claimed on “CNN News Central” that President Joe Biden’s threat to withhold some weapons from Israel lowered Hamas ‘ chances of receiving a ceasefire agreement, making it more difficult to enter Gaza and release the hostages.
Moskowitz stated that while the House bill attempts to impose restrictions on Biden’s transfer of weapons to Israel is controversial, the bill wo n’t pass into law anyway, and that “my main motivation for voting for the bill is what I said earlier when the President decided to halt that particular weapon,” and that he wants to get more humanitarian aid in there as well as get the hostages back. And the only way we can accomplish that is to convince Hamas to consent to a stalemate. Right now, the reason we do n’t have a ceasefire, Israel agreed to the ceasefires proposed by the Egyptians, and then Hamas added additional terms, and that, unfortunately, blew up the ceasefire deal. So, we do n’t have a ceasefire because Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, who’s buried in a tunnel, will not release the hostages and will not agree to a ceasefire, which puts these innocent Palestinians in peril. And thus, without that strain, it’s not going to happen. I disagreed with the President last week because I believed it to be removing Hamas’s force.
