An old California man has been the victim of obscene thieves who stole his vintage car in broad daylight, and he blames the crime on the fact that there are” no effects in this town.”
Dave Lechthaler, an 80-year-old fan for Oakland cars, believes the thieves entered his garage after they drove up to his shiny purple 1959 Chevrolet Corvette from a car show in Pleasanton, which is about 30 miles away.  ,
After the April 15 affair, he told KTVU,” They knew how to drive the car because it was a stay and they just drove straight out .”  ,  ,
Surveillance footage shows two suspects breaking into Lechthaler’s garage around 7: 00 a. m. and making off with his$ 200, 000 antique.
According to Lechthaler, the robbery was like a” kill in the spirit.”
After buying the car in 2006, he had restored it to “factory best” by rebuilding the website, reupholstering the interior, and painting the system.

Lechthaler continued to say that he anticipated that the thieves would not face justice and that he would never see his Corvette afterwards.  ,

According to information from the Oakland Police Department, car thefts have increased since 2020, with a rise from 8,700 to a whopping 14,700 reported instances in 2023.
