According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, an El Paso person has been detained in El Paso for alleged offences related to smuggling and selling handguns without a permit.
According to court documents, Jesse Garay, 26, allegedly purchased numerous firearms between Sept. 7, 2022, and March 24, 2023, answering on each Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ( ATF ) document that he was” the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm ( s ) listed on this form”, according to a news release sent out by the U. S. Attorney’s Office.
Personal information obtained in a seek warrant reportedly revealed that Garay sold the weapon to different people, including a slight, according to the U. S. Attorney’s office.
Also, it is said that at least three firearms were allegedly recovered at either murder images or in Mexico.
Garay is accused of making false statements while acquiring a rifle, one matter of trafficking in weapon, and two counts of dealing weapon without a permit.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison for the smuggling cost, five years for the working without a registration fee, and 10 years for each false statement charge.
The situation is being looked into by ATF.
