Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY ) claimed on Monday’s Fox 5″ Good Day New York” that the law governing asylum is “really clear” and that President Joe Biden cannot reverse his reversal of former president Donald Trump’s immigration policies. You have a right to come around if you have a colorable say that you are coming from a terrible state that has terrible things happening.
Gillibrand said,” President Trump — former President Trump has come out to say, I do n’t want any fixes to immigration, which is just cynical and terrible for a state like New York, because we need these laws changed”.
The President may change it with — he may make his own alter, Co-host Rosanna Scotto next said. He got rid of them within the first 100 days ]he was in company ]”.
Gillibrand cut in to state,” He’s going to try. But, this is what he’s going to do: He’s going to try to do these items through executive order. He may be sued. He may or may not prevail in court. But the point is that we’re urging him to do what you do if Congress is doing their job because they wo n’t vote on this because Congress is n’t doing their jobs.
Scotto next asked,” Can’t he change what he reversed”?
Gillibrand answered,” No. The hospital law is incredibly apparent. You have a right to come here if you have a colorable say that you are coming from a terrible nation with terrible things happening. The issue is that the procedure takes too long. We need to move things along more quickly, and we also need work permits for emergencies. Our government ought to be able to issue job visas in an emergency.
