A sign in Chicano Park with a slogan that some people believe to be racist is causing controversy in San Diego ( Wolf 5/KUSI).
The mark has been away for more than a week.  , The City of San Diego has been made aware, but as of Monday, had never made any techniques to take it down.
This is where the account gets complicated.
Chicano Park has a special place in San Diego leadership. Although it was previously designated and regarded as a town treasure, it is now managed by a neighborhood” steering council,” to which the city has largely stayed out of business.
Some people are now asking for responses because of the lack of action.  ,
” My children were with me. My whole household, my father, my kids and myself were extremely annoyed to see this on the street corner. It was very strongly displayed”, said Kerry Schlossberg.
” From the valley to the water” is a tagline some have become familiar with since the Oct. 7 , assault on Israel by Hamas. The word has various interpretations for various social groups.
This mark, which is prominently displayed on the corner of Logan Heights and Cesar Chavez Parkway in Chicano Park, is causing a stir.
A non-partisan legislative resolution was passed that established the homicidal nature of the alleged antisemitism. It’s calling for the removal of the world’s single Israeli society”, said Schlossberg.
When they spotted the signal, Schlossberg and her household were returning from their Mother’s Day celebration. She claimed she called the city right away to have it removed, but nothing has been done in the week since.
” They said they’ll get back to me and they have n’t done it. It’s really still it. It’s sitting on that road part, prominently displayed, no being removed”, said Schlossberg.
A party claiming to be members of the Chicano Park Steering Committee, a security staff, met the FOX 5/KUSI team in Chicano Park on Monday night to attempt to learn more about the signal and its location.
They claimed that the area and the property are private and that a 1970s agreement with the city led them to assert that they do not.  ,
They have special authorization from the capital, which can be revoked, to control it, to grant specific permits to visitors to the area and other places, to keep the murals and art displays, but they do not possess that area. It is common home. It is a town park”, said Schlossberg.
Rabbit 5/KUSI reached out to Mayor Todd Gloria’s business as well as the state’s Parks and Rec division, but had not yet heard again.
While the agreement to control the area is reasonable, Schlossberg, who is a director at the House of Israel, claims that the city has a responsibility to replace anything that encourages love.
” I believe that the area needs to take immediate actions. Without a doubt, any other minority group that displayed a love message on an established show signal in a people park would have it removed in less than an hour. We do not want to empower antisemites in the city of San Diego”, said Schlossberg.
