RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A Weslaco man is being held without bond after he allegedly shot at a Border Patrol agent while transporting migrants, documents revealed.
Federal records show that Rafael Arriazola was detained on suspicion of assaulting a federal agent and of bringing foreigners into the country.
According to a legal complaint, on May 17, a migrant from Mexico crossed the Rio Grande and entered the U. S. along with eight to 10 additional workers. He claimed that he knocked on the door of a trailer after spending two nights in the paint, and an unnamed woman responded.
She said she would visit her son to help him after the immigrant man told her that he was hungry and in need of assistance. According to the problem, Arriazola was pulled over by a black Ford truck about 10 minutes later. The gentleman informed him that he was from Mexico, had lost his way in the paint, and needed assistance getting to a friend’s Donna home.
The man witnessed Arriazola cut a dark handgun while watching the trailer before putting the weapon in his belt. He informed Arriazola that two more refugees were still hidden in the paint, and Arriazola instructed him to take him to them. According to the problem, Arriazola pulled out the revolver and ran with it in his hands when they ran into Border Patrol agents while they were on the way.
One of the Border Patrol agents, according to officials, claimed they saw the immigrant and Arriazola and gave them the order to stop. While apprehending the immigrant, the Border Patrol agent saw Arriazola 35- 40 yards away, as a dark or military- blue form came up in front of him.
The Border Patrol agent yelled at him to halt, to which Arriazola responded” I will give you all to hell”, in Spanish, the report alleges.
The broker then heard three rounds of gunshots from Arriazola’s manner.
“]The Border Patrol agent ] saw flashes of light, heard several gunshots and felt]their ] living was endangered”, the complaint stated.
The migrant man told the realtor he did not believe Arriazola would shoot at them on the way up to the vehicle.
On Thursday, Arriazola made his first jury look. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to have a incarceration hearing on May 28.
