Congress Republicans are accused of setting record-setting levels of illegal immigration to the United States, and President Joe Biden suggests that they are putting a stop to “border police.”
A bill to increase legitimate emigration while allowing tens of thousands of border crossings by migrant encounters failed in the Senate on Thursday with a 43-51 majority.
The bill would  , have, among other things, increased annual green card admissions by 50, 000, expedited work permits for migrants released into the U. S. interior, and allowed some 35, 000 migrant encounters at the border before the Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) could enforce border controls.
In response to the Senate’s decision to block the act, Biden claimed that Republicans are” choosing to stand in the way of frontier protection” and that they are not “interested in securing the border or fixing America’s broken emigration technique.”
” We must make our frontier more safe and we must ensure that the United States continues to be a beacon of hope and opportunity,” Biden said. I commit myself to fixing our broken immigration system every day and every time.
The remarks made by Biden coincide with the House Republican leadership’s comprehensive list of 64 steps the president has taken since taking office in late January 2021 that have resulted in record levels of illegal immigration.
These actions include halting all boundary wall structure, putting an end to the Remain in Mexico policy, ending joint venture contracts with Central America, ending Title 42, and creating a parole process for immigrants seeking entry into the United States interior.
Before the close of Fiscal Year 2024, the House Homeland Security Committee predicted a record-breaking number of migrant encounters on Biden’s watch, which was previously unheard of in British history.
Now, about 9.5 million workers have been encountered at the world’s territories since Biden took office. Almost eight million of these migrant encounters took place along the porous southern borders, where new visitors have a 70 to 90 percent possibility of being released into the interior of the country.
