Calexico, Calif. ( Border Report )— It was 13 before when, out of interest, Diana Daniels drove up to a hospital where she heard dogs barking.
It turned out to be the Calexico Animal Shelter right on the border in Calexico, California, around 120 miles south of San Diego, and it’s where she’s been going to volunteer once a week ever since.
Daniels said she asked about the dogs and procedures for maintenance and deployment, but was n’t pleased with the answers.
So she made the decision to take action.
She attempted to get more volunteers and help from the City of Calexico, but she was ultimately left out.
” The individuals lasted about two days”, Daniels said. ” I’ve been coming every single Saturday for about 13 ages”.
Daniels has a single objective when he visits the sanctuary.
She says,” I give everything I can to make these guys appealing to the public.” ” I take pictures, videos … I post them on Facebook and Instagram and my point is to get them adopted out, whether it’s seen by the public or other rescues, it does n’t matter who sees them”.
Daniels instructed Border Report to push the dog to any individual or rescue group if they show interest but are unable to pick up the dog.
” I’ve gone as far as Seattle, to Portland, Ramona, San Diego, yet L. A”.
Daniels claims that since she started helping, she has assisted about 3, 000 puppies in finding great properties.
” Without taking photos, videos and sharing them on social media, it’s impossible to get them out of these to better sites. … If I do n’t help them, they will be euthanized”.
Daniels also assists in the recovery of canines from the Imperial County Shelter and of other pets who may enter Mexico through the nearby border challenge.
” I do say we’re 100 miles away from the Hispanic border”, she says. ” These animals go back and forth, so we do n’t know if they’re U. S. animals if they’re Mexican animals, we do n’t know, but I do n’t care”.
Daniels mentioned a number of other companies that have assisted her greatly over the years, including:
- Del Mar Dog Save
- Paws 4 Thought
- Barking Lot Save
- Thorne Recovery
- Spot Recovery
- Recovery Fenix
She added that she would welcome donations for her canine recovery efforts.
