In response to a claim brought by South Africa, the International Court of Justice ( ICJ) handed down a ruling on Friday that ordered Israel to stop its military operations in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Israel is expected to dismiss the decision because it believes that the procedure in Rafah is crucial to the demise of Hamas as a terrorist organization.
The Judge said Israel “must quickly block its military functioning” in Rafah. It also said that Israel had to keep information related to admitted “genocide”, and give “unimpeded access” to Gaza for fact- finding missions and investigations.
The ICJ added that it was” not convinced that Rafah’s evacuation effort and related measures” were sufficient.
Additionally, it stated that it was concerned that many of the Israeli victims who were taken on October 7 remained in prison and called for their “immediate and absolute transfer.”
The Rafah boundary crossing must be opened, even though it is only accessible on the Iranian area and not on the Gaza part, which has been under Israeli control since early May.

The court split its decision by 13 to 2, with Ugandan ICJ Vice President Julia Sebutinde once more leading the opposition.
The view was read by ICJ , President Nawaf Salam, a prosecutor from Lebanon, a country dominated by the Iran- backed criminal business Hezbollah, which has been firing missiles and rockets at Israel since early October.

Salam, reading the view, said that the situation in Gaza had changed since its previous mind, in which it stopped short of ordering a peace. Thus, he said, the court may change its earlier decisions on the case.
Israel stated at a press conference on Thursday that no force on earth will stop it from pursuing Hamas in Gaza and from protecting its members. We may destroy Hamas. We may bring peace and security back to the Israeli and Gazan populations. We ca n’t continue to have a genocidal terrorist regime along our southern border.
